If anyone is willing to say that John Williams is actually better than Nobuo (and luckily no-one has yet, or we'de be here all day with my ranting) then I am confident to say that they are wrong. I agree that John Williams is an extremely good composer with advanced skill, however I am willing to stake my life that Nobuo is the better composer. THE best alive today.

I'm the one who said he couldn't, and if you'd read further down the thread, I corrected myself by saying that he had difficulty reading sheet music. That's not my opinion, those are his own words (take a look at the OPM interview quote I used as source).
Also, I did give the edge to Williams. I gave my reasons in my first post. I also did say that Nobuo is amazing, but considering their respective fields and the differences between them, the two are difficult to compare. But as far as video game composers, no question no one comes close to Nobuo. For the huge volume of work they have to create, no one is as consistently good as him.

Well, it's an apples and oranges argument anyway. Not that the back-and-forth between us I'd consider an argument, just a clarification is all. I hate arguing anyway. See you around .

I'd say Nobuo isn't as consistent as many composers. When it comes to video game composers, I'd say Koji Kondo is the best and most consistent, but when Nobuo does a good'n he really goes to town.

Nobuo is one the most underrated composers in history in my view, i would love to see his music on movies (not video game related)

That actually baffled me that he didn't do the soundtrack to Spirits Within. I imagine it was Sony's idea to use something of a more established film composer like Elliot Goldenthal to do it. Had Nobuo done it, it certainly wouldn't have had such a dull score.

John Williams is brilliant and his music complex. Nobuo makes good game music.
There's no fair comparison. Strictly speaking, Williams is the better and more accomplished composer. (But he's not the one I'm listening to today!)

Ohhhh GOOOOD...I dont wanna argue again, but I'm just gonna say, that Nobuo Is STILL and ALWAYS my favourite and when her gets a good song going, he takes it to the MAX.
Take melodies of life and aeriths theme. They are really emotional and saddening songs that have true feeling out into them. Nobuo wrote over 400 songs just to suit FFVII's needs. I said it earlier but wtf, i'll say it again. Nobuo in my oppinion puts feeling into his songs...oranges and apples baby

Many of John Williams's most popular themes were "borrowed" (at least it sounds that way) from great classical works throughout the centuries.
If Nobuo truly writes from the heart and has little influence from great masterpieces from the past, then I might say that he has a greater gift for creativity.
Don't get angry, or whatever -- these are just opinions.
