What makes sports interesting?
Well, as the title basically says, what are the things that makes sports interesting for YOU?
The thing that gets me about sports is the fanbase and the excitement of seeing your team win. That's pretty much all; I get a feeling of impartial camaraderie with other fans of the same team.

I think that its the sheer competition between one group of people trying to outdo another group of people. I like how a group of people can work together as a team to accomplish one goal. I like how the crowd gets their favorite team going. But above all, no matter the sport, it has to be the competition plain and simple.

Oh yeah, that's a great point.
I mean, what with all the other things that people do as group, isn't really all that productive, sports kinda provide a different, and highly exposed, angle to it all, yeah.

Depends really on who is playing and what sport. Of course if my team is playing then I watch them to see them win, or if it's our rivals (or England in anything) then of course I want them to lose heavily with every fiber of my being.
Some sports like Tennis I really just want to see a good, close game although I do have preferences in any sport I watch.

Depending on my standpoint on the competitors, depends on my views. If it's a team that I follow, I love to see them win (goes without saying really).
But if I'm neutral, then a close game is always great to see.

Being a supporter of Potsmouth F.C the thing that makes sport special for me is the atmosphere, and there's plenty of that at Fratton Park

lol, agreed on that last part. It's always exciting to see close matches when they're neutral. And I usually pick out silly reason for wanting one team to win over another, such as:
1.) Who has the more prominent members?
2.) Who do the commentators mention a lot? Seem to favour?
3.) Who has the better color? xD

If I'm watching a neutral football match - I'll always want the team in blue to win especially if the other team wears red

With me, I prefer playing sports to watching them. I used to watch Celtic play but somewhere along the line I just stopped caring. It's still nice to hear if they win though, and Rangers getting thrashed never fails to brings a smile to my face aswell. I guess it's just the thrill of seeing your men do well.
I like to play sports though because you are in the centre of all the action. I've never really been able to get into games on the telly, but when you are playing it's so easy to get lost in the match. It's always nice to be playing on the winning team aswell, but even if we're losing you have that determination to get back up and even if you don't you can always laugh at yourself. (I do that all the time anyway)

So true. xD Whenever I'm asked who I'm supporting in a big sporting event, I usually reply 'Whoever's playing England'. It's the sad sad truth. x)

Sports are a good source of exercise and entertainment. That's pretty much why I participate in 'em.
As for watching, I like rooting for my favorite teams. Keeping up on the player stats is fun, too.
