A big day in every football fans books i hope, the start of the 2008/09 season, the main football match for the day would be Newcastle and Manchester utd, mainly as i am a geordie but also because these are my 2 favourite teams, i think (and im gonna start an argument here) Newcastle to win 2-1.

what games are you looking forward for and what are your game predictions?

the Newcastle Vs man U is indeed the start of my season as i am a Newcastle united supporter, and quite frankly i think we are going to loose to United BUT if they win then i will be ecstatic but to say the odds are against us is an understatement

I am a Rangers fan but as a large bulk of my family are from Newcastle I've ended up a fan of them too (though if they played each other I would support Rangers). I would also be very surprised if Newcastle won that but hopefully we won't lose as bad as 6-0.........

As for Rangers, we successfully lost our captain, another 2 of our best players and bought a couple meh players that don't even replace our lost players positions. This coupled with our early and shameful exit from Europe means I'm only keeping one eye on them, as my heart can't take losing 4 seasons in a row....... However being the bloody-minded fan I am I still think Rangers will get the treble.

Man Utd to win 3-0! I R BORO SEASON TICKET HOLDER!

Nah, I think it will be close and Man Utd have a few players out so I think Man Utd might edge it 1-0 or you'll get a decent opening game draw.

Anyway, our season starts on Saturday against Spurs.

I think we'll win 2-0 or 2-1 to be honest. We reached Europe under McClaren and we have only strengthed our squad since Yakubu/Viduka left imho. Judging by the Man City game and the signings we've made we will be MUCH MORE attacking minded and with Alves/Mido and Tuncay/Aliadere we are pretty much guarenteed goals...and I think Alves will be on fire this season. Plus Downing is looking prime at the moment and Emnes used to be a sprinter (and can score goals) so he'll leave defenders behind with his pace...Wheater/Pogatetz will be key at the back, especially since Wheater looked awesome last season and now has a full season under his belt, hopefully Pogatetz won't let captaincy get to his head =/
...I'd say Arca being injured is our only blow since when he is at his best he has played some of the best balls I've ever seen and unlocked countless defences =(

For Spurs, I think they have weakened since last season, I know Robinson was suspect on occasions but I he was still a decent keeper overall, Keane has gone to Liverpool and they haven't replaced him and Berbatov looks set to go so they lack fire-power I think...although Bent is a cunt and he ALWAYS scores against us.

although i am indeed a Newcastle supporter i am afraid to say that i think Boro will win their opener against Spurs, and i also predict wins for the other top 3 teams (Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsnel)
