Go China!!

Meh, I'm not really bothered with who wins, more the politics of it all. The opening ceremony was spectacular, btw.

Thats sad because the Olympics are supposed to unite the world and let people respect other countries rather than hate them!

I used to be an athlete, but I don't watch athletics or sport on TV, I dunno, it just never realy enjoyed watching it much. But I watch the opening ceremony for both wow-ness and for what it symbolises.

Go Malaysia, get ur 1st ever gold medal (although its gonna be tough)!

The opening ceremony was certainly spectacular, with a wonderful performance by the Beijing organizers and a truly amazing way to light the Olympic flame ("flying" guy runs the entire stadium diameter in the air and lights a massive torch)!

But the controversy about the little girl lip-synching the Olympic theme as well as the so-called CGI fireworks display has taken the shine off much of the opening... It came out on the front page of Malaysian newspapers actually!

Yeah I heard about the fake singing girl just this morning, apparently they did it because the actual singer was "too ugly", they wanted someone "with the right look to represent China" >.<

I've been watching some of the swimming and gymnastics because I like them, although I think it's hilarious what the Sports Minister for Australia said- "The British swimmers are good, to say there are no swimming pools in Britain and hardly a bar of soap" wtf?

I'm convinced there is a bias towards China, all you have to do is look at the synchronized springboard diving event the China won gold even though the Germans were equally as good at entering the water but BETTER than China at the actual synchronization...and then there was the boxing one where is was GB vs. China and when we were giving him full blows to the face and getting nothing whilst China were getting points for hardly touching him.

The GB vs. China game was unreal since we came down from 12-17 to win 21-19...and that man blaming his 14yr old partner for them losing was lulz.

I don't really watch the Olympics or any sport for that matter, and couldn't care less how many Gold medals Britain wins, we've already proved that we're a failure of a country in the Eurovision Song Contest.

I don't mind watching it if it's on mind you, I remember watching gymnastics a few years ago and being mesmerised by all the bendy people and how they seem to break the laws of gravity whenever they do a backflip.

I'm personally more interested as to how China are coping with having to let so many people in.

Well, China is still at the top of the medal standings... They look set to dethrone the US of A as Olympic champions unless the Chinese suffer a serious meltdown in the coming days and the US thrashes everyone they compete against in the Track & Field!

Eurovision is politically rigged though, it's a case of vote for us or we'll cut off all your supplies and resources, the smaller countries are scared of the larger countries. Russia much?

I only watch the highlights really, mainly because a lot of the events I'm interested in but if Britain are on TV then I'll probably watch the whole of that event just to see how well they do in it.

After hearing how they faked some of the fireworks, and how they made that girl mime, simply because the one who was "apparently" too ugly to actually be on stage singing, I'm not going to bother. They're more interested in a bloody perfection image. Pah.

I don't watch the Olympics too, but some information slightly interested me. My husband was telling me yesterday that Hannah Thompson will be on fencing and has been training for a few years now for the Olympics. She works at Home Depot with my husband and apparently, she only works three weeks out of the year at Home Depot AND still gets paid full-time even while she's not there working. o.o Meh, sponsorship and the likes, I suppose.

http://www.rnews.com/Sports/Story_20..._story_type=19

So yeah, I may watch it if it's on, but I doubt I'd stay tuned for it.
