The thing is with Scolari he will MAKE Chelsea his team, he'll bring in the players he thinks would be beneficial to the club and get rid of the ones who don't meet his standards, which was Grant's main problem, all the players that were there respected Mourinho and most were upset with the sacking and also probably knew Grant didn't help the situation. But it looks like Chelsea will be looking for a new head coach as well after sacking Ten Cate.
It looks like Liverpool may get Barry after Gerrard has stated that he WANTS him to play alongside him at Liverpool. I don't blame Gerrard for saying that, Barry's a quality player with room to improve, but to do so he needs Champions League football so he can be up against the best. Especially since I don't rate Mascherano whatsoever =/

Revived in time for the new season.
Well Rangers won't win bugger all this season with the summer we've had, hopefully having no European football will go towards helping towards the league but we don't seem that stable atm.
For the English league I'd imagine that it'll be Man United/Chelsea for the title again with Arsenal hanging around in third and that Liverpool will be Liverpool again and do well in one of the cups while fighting Tottenham, Everton and co for fourth place for half the season.

My money is on Chelsea winning the league this year, Man Utd relied on Ronaldo far too much last season and even though there is a possibility he could be just as good I think it was just a one off season for him and he won't be anywhere near as good this season.
Liverpool have just bought mediocre players in my opinion (bar Keane), and especially after watching their Champions League qualifier 1st leg it looks like if they are going to be relying on the Gerrard/Torres partnership again.
1) Chelsea
2) Man Utd
3) Arsenal
4) Liverpool
The 606 BBC Spurs board made me rofl when they said they will piss all over us on Saturday , some 3-0/4-0's came out xDD
Sorry but it's just not going to happen, they've lost Keane, look almost certain to lose Berbatov (imo, he'll go to Barca) and yet they haven't signed anyone to replace him whilst although we lost Schwarzer (who wasn't that good imo) we've only strengthed out squad and Alves showed at the end of last season and preseason what he can do.
Opening win and a decent season for us methink

Spurs always delude themselves every year, they were supposed to finish 4th last year above Arsenal and wound up 11th.
I just hope Arsenal can progress from last season, but our squad looks thin. We really need to win the league or the European Cup but it's a tall order. But we're often better when everyone writes us off so fingers crossed. We'll need to get off to a good start in the first few games or else that might set the tone for the whole season.

I'm afraid to say (and this hurts) that you're deluded. It won't be as much as 3 or 4, but I can't see Boro getting a win. Spurs have let Robbie Keane go, but they still have a much better team than Boro. I saw them play in a friendly against Carlisle, and we matched them pretty much blow for blow. We were only slightly out-classed by them, and a lot of that was down to Aliadiere's speed down the wing. I've no idea why Southgate put him there though. oO

I really hope we can build on last season's "success". Now is the time for people like Theo Walcott, Denilson and Abou Diaby to shine for us. I think we might be troubled by injuries up front early on. Eduardo and van Persie aren't likely to be back, so the ranks there in particular are thin. And we need a good, strong centre midfielder added too, I think. We've been linked with people, but as always, nothing has come of it. And going from how he played in pre-season, it's time for Fabianksi to step up to the number 1 spot. He gave a top drawer performance against Sevilla.

Van Persie is back, he just needs to not get injured again!
Poor Eduardo, I really hope he's as good as he was when he finally returns :(

Oh right, I totally missed that then. ><
The general rule is that players are never as good as they were after breaking a leg. Shearer and Larsson managed to come back with a bang though after theirs, so here's hoping.

We can't have played well against Carlisle then because we managed to beat Sparta Rotterdam 6-1 and 5-0 (and Darlo was just our youth squad pretty much), but I disagree with Spurs being MUCH better, in both games last season we destroyed them we just didn't have a goalscorer with Mido being injured and Aliadiere/Tuncay are both players who put huge amounts of effort in but aren't natural finishers.
Berbatov will be in two minds after being linked to Barca and Man Utd and he is their main threat and Woodgate is going to have a huge amount of fans on his back (and rightly so) so his game may or may not falter.
Our only problem is an inexperienced keeper and weak in certain defensive positions, elsewhere we're likely to dominate Spurs.
...and, although yes it could be close we'll have a full house so hopefully the likes of Alves will rise to that and show us his true potential.
************
Ohohoho, Middlesbrough 2 - 1 Spurs
"Mido returned to haunt his former club as Middlesbrough eased to a comfortable victory over Spurs at the Riverside."
At least Spurs have something to take from the game...
- They should have kept Robinson, he is miles better than dodgy Gomez.
- Woodgate made a wrong decision moving to Spurs, that's what he gets for taking it up the nose.
- Modric just runs and runs...and runs, with no product.
- They started with Bent which means Berbatov's future will probably lie elsewhere.
- They should give Bentley back to Blackburn, he's shite.
However, Dos Santos looks a nifty little player who could have a bright future in the Premiership. =]

A pretty rusty start from us, looks like the faults from the last few years are still there. Over-complicating things, not being able to kill off games etc. And we're vunerable with the injuries we have right now. We did win but it all feels too familiar.
Spurs lost though
