Well final games of the Euro 2008 qualifying rounds are soon approaching, with Scotland needing just a win to progress (I thought it would just guarantee playoffs but hell this is better).
The diddy team England need to win as well as hope Russia fluffs up against Israel, failure to do so would very possibly mean that Scotland can leapfrog them in the World rankings as well which would be the most fan-fucking-tastic thing to ever happen in the whole history of football ever.

I'm going to remain the ever-optimistic England fan and believe firmly that we're going to get through. Israel are a good team, and they still have a chance of qualifying, so they should be up for it. Everything will work out for us, just like always.
An interesting thing that I heard is that the home internationals will possibly return if neither England or Scotland qualify.

Everyone is going ape shit about this game. At my work there is hardly going to be anyone on (Despite the game being a 5.00 pm kick off). I'll be off at 3.00 pm so I'll get seeing the game.
I've narrowed it down to 2 things. If we win, it will be the biggest achievement in the national teams history to progress from the so called "Group of Death" but if we lose, it will probably be one of the most heart breaking moments. Seriously, the game has been hyped for awhile now that I can't bare to see the team lose and I am a little worried considering that we mostly win on the counter attack tactic. We are going out there knowing that failure is not an option, if we go forward the Italians could easily break us down and that scares me.

Looks like I was pretty much right about England's chances then. Things always work out for us. =]

England's luck never ceases to amaze me XD
They're going to have to improve a lot next summer anyway. I feel sorry for Scotland but at the same time I like Italy and am glad to see them through.

To be fair, I'd rather have Italy there than Scotland. The Scots are a better side than they were five years ago, but Italy are still a better quality team, and that'll make the whole thing more interesting.
My prediction for Englands Euro 08; get an easy group, make it hard for ourselves. Breeze by the second round and then go out in the quarter final to a team of equal standard, and we'll all blame a poor refereeing decision.
Sound familiar?

Aside from the fact that the European Championships go straight from group stage to quarter-finals without a second round (as there's 16 teams only), I'd say your prediction is 100% accurate, and matches the outcome of pretty much every major tournament I've seen England in

I'm sure that's how it would gone for England, y'know if they qualified.
To be fair though England never deserved to go through, all the shit the players have been spraffing the last few days about how they 'deserve' to go through because of the players they have just blew up in their face by a very impressive Croatian side. Ian Wrights deflated face at the end of the match just made it for me being the smug prick that he is.
Still gutted by Scotland's failure but by God we almost pulled it off.

I second all of that, England got what they deserved, which was bugger all. Come on Greece next summer!
