Yeah it will be interesting to see what happens when the likes of Rooney and Lampard return. Will McLaren stick with the team he's had the last week or so, or will he draft in the 'big names' back in just on reputation?

I've always liked Rooney for England, but with Owen and Heskey doing so well (never thought I'd ever say that and be serious), I don't see the need for the strikers to change. I think Peter Crouch has a valid shout for playing though; he always puts in a good performance.
With any luck, the midfield won't change at all. I'm glad to see someone is finally putting their faith in Barry. Why he doesn't have more caps is beyond me.

It'll take a very stupid man to change that England team after how well they played, McClaren I feel is that damn stupid. Rooney and Lampard will get their places back at the expense of the others and the team like always.

Sadly, that's true. It's going to take a man with a lot of common sense or guts to change the England team to a side that can pose a threat at a major tournament.
It'll be fun while it lasts though...

The only thing I would change about the England squad is I'd move Cole from the left to the center of midfield with Gerrard and put Matthew Taylor on the left. It's about time he got recognition from Macca.

I think if Taylor is going to get a chance, then Joe Cole should be dropped entirely. Gerrard and Barry are both doing perfectly well in the centre, so there's no need to put him there. Matt Taylor is a better winger than Joe Cole anyway.

I think Cole would do a better job in the middle than Barry but you're right, Taylor is a better winger than Cole, possibly the best left sided winger England could have at this point.

No. The partnership of Gerrard/Lampard has already proved that two attacking midfielders don't work together. We need a defensive one to hold the midfield, which Barry does perfectly well. Drop Cole imo.

It seems strange to think of Barry as a defensive midfielder but you can see he does well in that role.

He was initially a central midfielder, but he's had to play in several positions in his career. It's about time he was given an extended run in the first eleven though.
