Yea you're version sounds a lot like Rugby to me. However, if this were to become a real sport in the future, humans better start to form gils somewhere on their necks or something to keep them underwater for so long.

Yeah, it's a lot like Rugby. In the start off. The ball is placed in the middle of the circle and at Blitz Off, we all run for the ball, though. I'm not too familiar with Rugby, but in Rugby, you throw the ball up, don't you?

In nature, it's been proven that we, nature, adapat to our environment. So it's possible to grow gils! Maybe. :p

I loved blitzball, and in fact, I know a friend who actually tried to start one ~ i.e. big failure.

Seriously though, imagine this sport the most popular sport in the near future.
We'd have to develop some sort of artificial breathing system though, and create gravitational fields to help contain the water.

Yeh, I've thought about this a lot.
