A thought hath occurred to me. How is it that Barbossa became to be a member of The Brethren Court, when he was simply Jack's first mate on the Black Pearl? You would think that the pirate lords would at least have their own ship. =/

You could ask the same about the rest of them, I suppose. Barbossa was maybe a Captain of his own ship before Jack came on the scene. Given how much he conveniently knew about Davey Jones, it's possible that he'd been sailing the seas for years before Jack.
