a mate of mine
he's looking for a drummer and invited me to a party this friday. Do i learn how to become a drummer instead of a guitarist and go to the party, or do I just go to the party because I'm learning guitar instead?

I'd be a drummer, but that's just me. I've always wanted to do that.
You could always pull a Dave Grohl and just do both.

Dave Grohl was the only member of Foo Fighters on the first album. He only put the band together for live shows, then it stuck.
