Metal Gear Solid 4 is my all time favourite soundtrack at the moment with no competition anywhere near it. Like seriously, it is the only soundtrack that gave me shivers when listening too. Kudos to VR for pointing it out.
Not only that but the scenes that accompany the footage are unreal and it really brings all my emotions together when listening/watching them together.
Other than that my second favourite would be 'Uncharted: Drakes Fortune' it's similar as the MGS4 soundtrack in a way that it really brings out any emotions...apart from that it doesn't have that extra 'wow factor' that the MGS4 OST does.

Aye, Eva has the right idea. Metal Gear Solid 4 has the greatest soundtrack for a game ever. Not including Rock Band and Guitar Hero of course...
It even has tracks from previous MGS games through the use of the IPOD. But it's best song is ''Here's to you'' which was originally performed by Ennio Morricone who, of course you all know, is great.

I'm gonna go with Tales of Symphonia. The battle themes are amazing. They get me in the fightin' mood. The town and character themes are all amazing as well. Everytime I hear a track from Tales of Symphonia, I feel like I have to play the game.
Fable is a close second. Danny Elfman owned the main theme with that game.

Persona 3 has a fantastic soundtrack. The Fes soundtrack and Burn my Dread Reincarnation cd is great stuff also. I probably listen to something from persona 3 every day.
Chrono trigger and Chrono Cross both have great soundtracks, everyone should have them by now. C'mon.
Cave story has a soundtrack full of delightfully addictive songs, they all fit the game perfectly. The cave story remix project is also a great thing to check out after you play the game.
Final fantasy 8, even though the game was somewhat disappointing to me, probably has the best soundtrack out of the series. It manages to remind you of classic FF soundtracks and FF7's soundtrack while still having it's own distinct style I haven't seen in another Final Fantasy game.
Most any castlevania game has some great tracks in it too.
That's what I have on the top o' my head, but I'll probably return to this thread to add more.

Going to avoid FF soundtracks, since there's already another thread for that.
Half-Life 2 (and the Episodes) has a fantastic soundtrack. Creepy tracks in all the right places, and fast pumping techno-ish songs during fierce fights to really get the adrenaline going.
Metal Gear Solid...all of them. What can I say, they're just amazing, especially the tracks with vocals (minus Here's to You).
Xenogears/Xenosaga 1 and anything else by Yasunori Mitsuda. The guy is seriously an amazing composer, I'd go so far as to say he's even better than Uematsu.
I think that's about it as far as top favorites go, although I have 4 gigs worth of video game OSTs

I guess it's VII for me, closely followed by X and VIII. I just love the music in them all, although I only have the soundtrack for VII Id love to get my mitts on the other 2, they are just great
I don't really play much of anything else although I did like the music in TS2 and Tony Hawks 3

Well, my overall favourite soundtracks hail from MGS4, Brawl(Um, music from like 30 different games), Final Fantasy 9 and 10. I dunno why, they just stick out to me.
I also think Dragon Quest 8 has a pretty underrated soundtrack. It has a ver classy feel.

I don't even think I can keep to just games, there are a good few series which have had consistently awesome soundtracks.
Castlevania - Old school platformer beats to the more Gothic tinged melodies of the newer games, they've largely been brilliant soundtracks with a couple of exceptions in between. - - Toccata Into Blood Soaked Darkness - Curse Of Darkness
- Simons' Theme - Super Castlevania IV
- Dark Palace Of Waterfalls - Lament Of Innocence
- Aquarius - Castlevania 3
- Iron Blue Intention - Bloodlines
- Altered Bloodlines - Rondo Of Blood
- The Tragic Prince - Symphony Of The Night
Street Fighter - Up until Street Fighter 3 and after Street Fighter 1 I'd say they had fine soundtracks. Some of the most memorable game tunes in history stemming from this series. - - Ken's Theme - Street Fighter 2
- Guile's Theme - Street Fighter 2
- Balrogs' Theme - Street Fighter 2
- Cammy's Theme - Super Street Fighter 2
- Sakuras' Theme - Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Resolution - Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Heavy Swell - Street Fighter Alpha 3
Timesplitters - My personal favourite F.P.S. series, but I don't think anyone can question the quality of the soundtracks that have been offered by this series in all three games. Okay, so Future Perfects' isn't quite as brilliant as the other two, but it's still pretty rockin'. - - Spaceways - Timesplitters
- Planet X - Timesplitters
- Chinese - Timesplitters
- Streets - Timesplitters
- Neo Tokyo - Timesplitters 2
- Scrapyard - Timesplitters 2
- Circus - Timesplitters 2
- Metal Lab - Future Perfect
- Like A Monkey - Future Perfect
King Of Fighters - Most of the older KOF games had a great variety of tunes to them, from rock to jazz with techno and so on in between. Best to listen to the arrange soundtracks though, the NeoGeo's sound capabilities were a bit crap. - - Esaka - KOF '94
- Seoul Road - KOF '96
- Kamikirimushi - KOF '96
- Big Shot - KOF '96
- Esaka - KOF '96
- Cool Jam - KOF '97
- KD-0079 - KOF '99
- 176th Street - KOF '99
- Sha La La - KOF '99
- Tears - KOF '99
- Dear Falling Angel - KOF '99
- KD-0084 - KOF 2000
- Ice Palace - KOF 2000
- Slasher Zero - KOF 2000
Amongst that there's the likes of Sengoku Basara, Vagrant Story, FFVIII, X and XII, Onimusha 4, any old school Sega game, the Shadow Hearts games, most things by Yasunori Mitsuda or Hitoshi Sakimoto, pretty much anything Capcom did in the 90's that was 2D....
The list goes on!

There are a few I enjoy listening to, but I'm not entirely sure about a favourite. I really enjoy listening to several tracks from:
Final Fantasy VIII - Songs such as Eyes on Me and Julia are simply beautiful while Waltz of the Moon and Slide Show Part 2 are incredibly uplifting. Ok, I'm not very good at explaining myself, but there's a lot of diversity on this soundtrack and, while I don't enjoy every track, it's certainly one of my top soundtracks overall.
Final Fantasy IX - (I'd just be repeating myself... ) Some of my favourite tracks would be Crossing the Knoll, Melodies of Life and We Are Thieves.
Final Fantasy X - This soundtrack is full of emotion, with sadness flowing from tracks such as To Zanarkand and The Ending Theme, hope, suspense, joy, love... To summarise it, every track suits its corresponding scene perfectly, making each moment easy to remember when listening to the soundtrack.
Final Fantasy X-2 - While I didn't enjoy the game a lot, I loved some of its music, especailly 1000 Words and Eternity.
Zelda: Wind Waker - Another great soundtrack. I especially love the liberating feel of The Great Sea and the bounciness of tracks such as Windfall Island and Outset Island.
Zelda: Twilight Princess - There's some highly ambient music in this, and I especailly enjoy Kakariko, Midna's Desperation, Snow Peak and Don't Want You No More.
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria - Another materpiece, with some epic music and breathtaking scenes attached to several of the tracks. Like Final Fantasy, this one's very near the top.
Xenogears also has some lovely music! And Chrno Cross methinks...

If you ask about an entire OST; i could say instantly MGS and Shadow of the Colossus. Snake Theme and "The Best is Yet to Come" are instant winners on my mind.
However i found that several games which have amazing songs. Suteki Da Ne (Final Fantasy X), Melodies of Life (Final Fantasy IX), You were there (ICO), Drunkard Does Wise Remarks (GG Isuka), Mirrors (Tales of the Abyss), Way to Fall (Metal Gear Solid 3), Bloody Tears (Castlevania).
Men, even the theme of Gran Turismo is awesome. I hope that Moon Over the Castle had won an award in Japan at least!!
