This is kinda a week old now but still worth posting up. Sonic Unleashed was announced recently after screenshots and footage of the game were leaked. An all new Sonic game for the PS3, 360, Wii and PS2 which will be mostly 2D gameplay mixed with segments similar to The Secret Rings. Looks lovely as you can see in the screens below.

You'll play through 12 stages using Sonic, Tails and Knuckles (good) as well as a a new ability that turns Sonic into a werewolf like version of himself (not so good).

Of course the return to it's 2D roots is a major plus and although we've been burned by multiple shit Sonic games for years now this may finally be what we've been asking for.

Sonic is a hedgehog, not a fucking werewolf. What're they playing at, this one better be good, looks it though.

What the hell? Now they are turning Sonic into a werewolf? We already had it with Link being able to transform into one in Twilight Princess. Link is understandable, but Sonic?

Then what's next? Knuckles being able to transform into a bat and be some sort of vampire?

Sounds like "Bloody Roar" to me

The whole were-hog thing is kinda weak and is the only blemish so far that I've seen. At first glance this looks like your old-fashioned Sonic game with speed and platfoming the main focus which is what we've always wanted, as long as they keep the shitty gimmicks at a minimum then I won't have any problem with it.

I'm still not going to get my hopes up yet of course going by past experience but this at least has potential. I mean it doesn't have Shadow and that's always a good thing right?

Sonic has been going downhill ever since its been released from 2D to 3D, they release the occasional good Sonic game now and again but its started to fail ever since they keep making new characters for ever game ie, Shadow the Hedgehog AND Silver the Hedgehog. As for Sonic being able to use lycanthropy...well, that says it all really.
I'll keep my eye out on how the game develops but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Don't really like the whole werewolf idea here... Reminds me of how they used to call the main bad guy, Robotnic, and now they call him Dr. Eggman? Wtf?

My little brother loves these games so maybe I'll buy it for him for his birthday or something. He wizzs through Sonic games like I used to when I was 9. The kids a beast. It's Sonic though, but the whole werewolf thing is kinda...not cool.

A new trailer from a couple of weeks ago. Still looks to be quite promising although I do hope that the games focus is more on the 2D sections rather than the parts. Those other sections look a bit dull.

A FUCKING WEREWOLF!?

Whatever wet their walls I suppose. Let's see how it all pans out. Last Sonic games I played was Heros and Shadow the Hedgehog and those put me off the following releases of Riders and Rings of Fate and whatever bollocks they have knocking about now.

The E3 trailer where they actually show how the werehog sections work, it's not pretty to see. They were doing pretty well with what they had beforehand and they've just stuck it with repetitive looking action-fighting sequences. SEGA can't seem to realise that trying to stick in un-Sonic like gameplay in a Sonic game has rarely if never worked before, I wish they would stop doing this every damn time.

Looks like the crappy music from the 3D games is returning as well.

The game actually looked pretty cool with the running sequences, but my opinion changed when it got to the beast Sonic part.
