Squall & Rinoa: I've never liked this couple, from the very start, because there was just...absolutely no chemistry between them. Even during those hurl-worthy romance scenes, it just didn't seem at all right, it seemed botched, forced, and insipid.
For half the game, Squall seems as though he really just can't STAND her, and suddenly she's unconscious and he goes: "I r luv u! <3" I remember playing the game when I was 9 years old, and even at that time, I just went: "...Are you serious?"
Honestly, I think the fact that Squall has to play hero, was one of the only things holding that relationship together. Perhaps without the constant heroism and the feeling like she really needs him, and not the other way around...their relationship might not survive.
And, just one more note. I will forever be creeped out by the fact that had fate been different, Rinoa and Squall could have been brother and sister. That could have just been Square's way of trying to connect the two since they weren't orphans together...but it just creeped me out if nothing else.
Sophia & Fayt [Star Ocean 3]: Okay, this couple just creeped me out, a lot. They were cousins, yet they hinted at a relationship between the two. I never beat the game, so, it's possible they actually WERE a couple, and if that's the case...that's just wrong. D=

Never watched the .GU anime series, though. It's amazing how it's an interesting enough anime, but the games suck so much ass it's not funny.
it r carp, maek me waste mai money on shitty rental >: (
I disagree. I enjoyed .hack//G.U. very much even though there were a bunch of references to other things I had no clue about. The only crappy thing was that the game could've been confined to one complete release rather than the three games it was; it's all about marketing on the companies part

her relationship with seifer wasnt serious, she was 16,
and they were originally going to make a love triangle with seifer squall and rinoa but then didnt, that explains most of what you said
wrong, before you commented on squall's personality, he is stoic, shy and had been hurt by sis leaving, he was never going to start a relationship, rinoa had to do all the work to get squall to even respond a little. Plus squall saves rinoa from death at the end of disc 2
Rinoa is in a coma, of course she wasnt forcing her feelings onto squall, because she was unable to drive the relationship forward during that time squall realised he had to. thats why he takes rinoa to esthar and saves her in space, because he loves her.
not because she is a sorceress using evil mind control powers on squall.
Okay, valid points, but it depends on interpretation I think.
I don't know anything about this possible love-triangle thing, but how come when everyone thought Seifer was dead, she said "I think I loved him" and adds after Selphie's comment that she still loves him even though he's "dead".
And at the end of Disc 3 and the beginning of Disc 4, the brief scene between Seifer and Rinoa was pretty heavy and tense; albeit Rinoa was probably scared shit-less, but at least on Seifer's part there appeared to be residual emotions.
I'll give you credit about Rinoa's initiative, however Squall only saved Rinoa because everyone was telling him he was the only one who could; you can tell he was too worried about the whole Garden and it's students rather than one civilian.
Remember when we saw certain events from Rinoa's POV after Squall met up with Ellone in the escape pod in outer space in Disc 3? We see that she was conscious at the time she became comatose after they party beats Edea, and we see the first glimpse of Ultimecia.
So physically she was dead to the world, but maybe she was still aware of everything.

Glad you like ZidanexGarnet though, those 2 are my favourite canon FF couple ^__^
Of course, what's more classic than the thief from a another planet and a fake princess

I agree w/ you on everything else.
its a good thing you put this in the spam section!
The reason why I liked Yuki and Alfina was that although it seemed like they would get together, it flowed more naturally as a result of their own emotions. No one was forcing them together; their attraction was a subconscious thing, and the first mentioning of their love was through some one else's voice (Yuki's best friend I think...)

Squall and Rinoa
Ok...I have to admit I am overly critical of this couple. I thought a lot of events in the game were cheesy. I thought the romance was immature. I got sick and tired of having to rescue her all the time. I never envisioned a person like her with a guy like him...
But overall...I'm okay with their relationship...it doesn't make me cringe like it used to.
Dart and Shana
I don't think that Shana and Dart were a legit couple either. Apparently they have some kind of back-story together, but even with what the game tells you, it isn't much. All throughout the first mission to rescue her from prison...I was just...unable to understand why he would run after her other than the fact that maybe they were just childhood friends, and he's a very compassionate guy.
Serge and Kid
Yeah...I can see where you're coming from, but even after I passed the game a few times, I just never saw them as a couple...as in...I don't think the game made them out to be a serious couple.
Zidane and Garnet
This has to be one of my favorite pairings in FF history. Their relationship had perfect progression. Of course, as with most of these games, you automatically asume that the two main characters will wind up together...but this is one pairing that I thought was truly "genuine".
Not to mention that they actually made sense together.
Tidus and Yuna
...Yeah, they're alright. All I can say is that the end of the game was perfect...that's all...that's what made me think they were a good couple...don't ask why. lol.
I know; I figured since Rinoa was a rebel leader she could take care of herself; apparently not *rolls eyes*
And I agree with everything else you said ^^

Squall and Rinoa: I give you an extra point for that, because Rinoa was kind of annoying and never quit being a pest even though Squall constantly (but indirectly) tells her to GTFO. Oh and your theory of Rinoa forcing Squall to feel something for her is not valid, because she was in COMA.
Dart and Shana: I actually never had any trouble with that couple. They were childhood friends, but I've seen a lot of childhood friends ending up married, many, many times
I know! The whole "romance" between Serge and Kid came out of no where at the end.

Yeah, a lot of people forget that Julia and Laguna had a thing going on for a while; and doesn't Rinoa freakishly resemble Laguna O_o
Sophia and Fayt are really just next door neighbors/friends. Sophia just calls Fayt's parent her uncle and aunt just for whatever reason. But the two aren't related by blood.
SO3 had "pair endings", so Fayt could end up with whoever has the most affection or whatever. It was a little implied that Sophia has a thing for Fayt, but Fayt himself doesn't really push past friendship with her. There actually isn't much romance with Fayt and any other character truthfully.

This is pretty hard since I approve of most romance between the main characters in games I've played so far.
But I'll agree that Dart and Shana's romance was a little icky. I didn't really feel any chemistry between the two, especially since Dart was so adamant to treat her like a baby sister. Their relationship changes eventually, but I felt that it came out of nowhere, although I suppose there were a few hints here and there, albeit somewhat tenuous.
Justin and Feena's (Grandia) romance was sweet enough, and I admit that there was indeed a strong connection...but personally, I didn't like those two as a couple as much. =/ It's just bleh. It's probably the age. Any romance under 16...I just don't take seriously enough...sorry if I offend anyone here. >.> I just viewed Justin and Feena as mere kids. I know that there are also serious relationships with young ones, but we're talking about video games here so my viewpoints kinda alters a bit every now and then.
Lloyd and Collette. (Tales of Symphonia) I realize that the romance between them was vague, and I'm not really sure if they cleared it up or not, but from what I remember, it was certainly blooming - to a point that you can almost call it official. Now, I don't like this pairing at all. Collette is way too klutzy and quite annoying, while Lloyd plays the big hero and quite the spontaneous one...it just doesn't fit, in my opinion. Something's missing, but I just don't know what. Could be personality clashes, who knows? All I know is that I didn't enjoy their relationship throughout the game.
And that's all for now. Can't really think of anything else at the moment.

The whole "Rionoa could be Squall's sister" theory was disproved in another thread. Rinoa was the daughter of Julia and General Carway. Raine and Laguna were Squall's parents. Laguna only met Julia a few times, not enough to do something important, and knowing how nervous Laguna was near Julia, he would feel paralyzed and acting dumb
Now back to Dart and Shana, at least it is better than Squall and Rinoa. Because I've seen countless couples that, before being together, have constant arguing with each other, treat each other like shit, and then they end up together. The same with childhood friends, they sometimes end up together, funny
