Mega Man 9
For those of you who haven't been keeping up, Mega Man 9 has finally been confirmed. It's going to be downloadable on WiiWare, Xbawcks Live Arcade and PSN. Small scans are small.
That's right. They're making it OLDSCHOOL. I love them so much for this, I can now forgive them for every stupid move they've ever made. More scans here.

I saw this and think it's pretty cool, the use of the old 8-Bit graphics may be a little too much but any Megaman game that doesn't use 3D can only a good thing. The story that the guys that worked on the first 3 X games and ZX is a thing to be genuinely excited about since they arguably made the best Magaman games.

I kinda like the 8-bit graphics, they've got a nice charm to them. Plus, after the godawful COLORSCOLORSITSAFUCKINCARNIVALCOLORSCOLORS style they used in Mega Man 8 it's very refreshing for me to see everything toned down (and that extreme kiddy style just wasn't doing it for me).
And if it's the team who worked on the first three X games is working on it, great things are to be expected. I've yet to play ZX, but I've heard it's pretty good.

I don't know how I feel about the graphical downgrade in the series...What's wrong w/it looking like the Zero/ZX series...? I mean, 8-Bit was great, but if you've played them, you come to realize that there's only so much the Blue Bomber can do in that world...But I guess what we want from Capcom is for them to continue to milk the same the same the same...But I'll wait to actually judge when it actually comes out...I'm sure it'll be just as fun as the NES legends.

If they actually made it look like Zero or ZX that would be cool, but after this abomination I'm paranoid they'd make another game like it.
The whole damn game is an acid trip of colors, it's like they turned Fruit Loops cereal into a game. And I really detest the little kiddy image they game Mega Man, so at least in 8-bit you can't tell.

But that's all Capcom knows how to do I dunno, seems to me that going back to the old 8-bit formula is like a nod to all the old fans of the series, and it makes me happy and nostalgic.

Yeah after seeing that vid, 8-bit is defiantly the way to go. It does have a certain charm to it it has to be said. But I'm a sucker for retro most of the time.
As long as the gameplay reaches X quality I'll have nothing to complain about.

Mega Man 8 is the only one I haven't been able to finish not because of difficulty, but because it made me want to vomit. Mega Man 9 looks much more promising. I really don't care if they downgrade the graphics as long as, like you said, the gameplay is good.
And I have no doubt it will be good though, as I said in my last post, all they know how to do is more of the same, they've got the formula down pat. But there's nothing wrong with more of the same when it's quality every time, and I do trust Mega Man games to deliver in quality gameplay.

Ugh, I really apologize for being so late on this, I didn't even find this info until tonight...here are some highlights:
- Based on lots of fan feedback stating Mega Man 2 as the favorite, Inafune decided to make the game in that style, so less fancy moves, more core gameplay
- There are several tracks and enemies taken from MM2
- It's just as hard as the originals, so no softening up. This game is geared toward old Mega Man fans mostly, and Inafune and the team just wanted to make it
- Boss names (you've probably heard some of these already): Galaxy Man, Plug Man, Hornet Man, Jewel Man, Magma Man, Concrete Man, Tornado Man, Splash Woman
- Despite lack of fancy moves later games brought, it will have Dr. Light's shop
Source is GamesRadar, feel free to look if you want more info (and tons of high-res artwork good for wallpapers). I suspect more will be talked about at E3 on Thursday. They'll be talking about it at 3PM (Pacific time) so don't forget to watch.
