360 and HD DVD, loss of value? - Page 2

i heard from gamespot that Sony is in talk with M$ to make a blu-ray add-on for the 360.

i'm with frisky, the blu-ray aspect just just isn't worth it.....yet. until HD TV's become the norm just like widecreen then it will become the standard. until then DVD is still my preferred option, the PS3 apparently even upscales them but i might be wrong, so there's no real need for blu-ray yet.

i got it for the exclusives and the games currently out now.

I have a HD TV but from what Iv seen I cant see any difference in picture quality. The only pictures that look even remotely bad are VHS's, but even those are passable

Or maybe Im just not as fussy as some. The only reason I went HD in the first place was because I thought my old TV broke so I bought myself a new one, and even then I only wanted it coz it was big

Plus we have that whole 'digital switchover' thing going on soon so I thought I may aswel

So, sod HD its just one one big rip off

The fact that Blu Ray won the format war between the two is probably because the PS3 had it from the start, however I don't think that it would have made much difference when people considered buying it since most people still don't have a great idea about Blu-Ray or just don't give a shit yet beyond those who just love having the tech.

I think that people who bought the 360 got it either for Halo 3, it was out first, Xbox Live and that it had/has a decent selection of exclusive games that appeal to it's main market. The PS3 has the PlayStation brand attached to it and even without any of its big hitters it's been outselling the 360 WW for a good while now.

Also I believe Microsoft or someone else has said at one time that there may be a Blu-Ray attachment for the 360 at some point in case Blu-Ray won.

But I don't think that it'll lower the value of the 360, just raise the value of the PS3 if Blu-Ray really takes off in a few years.
