Do you believe that maybe we get forced into believing in any Religion
Well listen now during the Eastern time the Father of my kids is going to make us Crazy about every movie having to do with Jesus God Moses.
My older son 7 1/2 told him Daddy i dont whant to watch that movies you cant force me to watch, well he did force him untill i got cracy about listen to his Crying.
Than my Partner told me it will be my mistake if my kids whant be Religios, than i told him that this movies have nothing to do with beiing Religios and that i dont even believe that it realy was like the movies are Showing.
Anyway i start believing that my partner and his family whants to force my kids for Believing in his Religion(Orthodox).
I believe that they are to small for making up there Minds for in what to believe, for me its enough if they know and believe in Jesus and god,but not about religion they shoud first grow up more.
What do you think about this, and do you believe maybe we also got forced in a way of believing in any religion?

I know that I certainly didn't get forced into believing a certain religion, that's for sure, but it's a typically human practice since the beginning of time. Converted by the sword, so to speak, even if there isn't always a literal sword involved.

I don't know if it's forcing someone to believe in a religion, but more of presenting that religion as an only option. That's why people who grow up with a religious family, they tend to follow the religion as well because it's all they know. When they're exposed to other cultures or ideas, they can make their own decision on what to believe. No one can really force someone to believe in something, but you can follow it without really believing in it. Following and believing are two different things.

I must confess, when I was in Primary school [equivelant of Elementary school, I believe] I often felt that 'The Word Of God' was often shoved down my throat. Every day, we would have a "Hymn Rehearsal" in the sports hall, so that we could go to church on the friday, as a school, to sit and sing more hymns to the priest. I hated that. Every single day, we had our books out, learning about the stories of Jesus and about the lessons he taught us. I was actually punished one day for expressing that I did not believe in God - one of my classmates asked if I believed in God, I said no. He asked who I thought the statue was supposed to represent and I said that I didn't care; that it was just a statue to me. Would you believe that I was given a detention for that?
I often felt that the school was causing me quite a bit of oppression, to be honest. Albeit, it was a "catholic school," but still, the proselytizing was just bang out of order.

I haven't been forced into religion either. Thankfully. As for the movies, I once heard an interesting "criticism" of Christian viewers who watched Passion of the Christ. He said that everytime Jesus was being beaten by those punishers in the movie, he said he knew that every Christian in the room was feeling the whip for their sins, and feeling more and more bad about themselves everytime they saw it happen. Which I think is funny because you're just sitting in a room watching some guy (an actor) with make up on pretending to get beaten by a whip.
Religion is something you should have a choice over. Having a different religion from your parents won't break the unity; it only does if you choose to antagonize it and make a big fuss over it. As long as you can pull a compromise over it, there would be no problem with having different religions in the family. To do otherwise and force people to have a religion against their will would be to commit religious intolerance.

I have not be force into a religion because well if we were force into a religion then mankind would not be where it is today. Its call freedom of choice and human rights and no one not even religion can take that away from you.

My Primary school was the same. Sing hymns every Friday at assembly. We didn't go to church on a Friday but normally on the last day before the likes of the Christmas holidays or Easter holidays, we would go to the church then. I hated those hymns.

I don't see it as being forced on people, but there is a bit of a push on Religion of any kind being 'right.' Particularly Christianity in the UK. Like Riku mentioned prior, primary school has more of a religious enforcement than most places, but it's not exactly strong enough to make one feel forced into complying with the religion in question.
The only way I see people being forced without argument is the child of a religious follower being pushed. Having no say in the matter... it sickens me.

That being said, it was all so much better when we went to High School. There was one incident where there was a trip to Elgin, some kind of religious place, that we were all offered to go on. To be told about this, we had to go to the Orratory [during out compulsory RE periods] and the school Priest talked to use about it. He asked for a show of hands of people who would be interested, and a few of us didn't stick out hands up, myself included. The priest walked along the lines of us and when he came to the end of the line, he picked on one person and asked why they weren't interested. He said that he would go, but he has a football tournament that weekend. The Priest said, and I quote exactly:
"You shouldn't be playing football - you should be praying to God like e | | | |
