DMC 4 will be released in october or november
The DMC timeline goes like this DMC3 – DMC1 – DMC4 – DMC2 (with it being noted that DMC2 takes place well after DMC4).
The story revolves around Nero. A new mysterious, young character with a special ability (or curse). His arm has been possessed and has become a weapon known as the Devil Bringer. The arm also happens to speak to Nero.
The story takes place on an island in a city called Fortuna. The residents of this island worship Sparda as a god and fight demons in his name. Nero is a knight in the Order of the Sword. During a ceremony, Dante crashes it and starts taking out the members of this cult. Dante’s purpose, to recover something that was taken from him. Nero steps up and challenges Dante. Dante toys with the boy and for one reason or another takes off. Nero pursues Dante and the game picks up from there.
Is Dante playable?
Who knows. From screen shots it appears that he will be. If he’s not playable in the main game he will most likely be an unlockable. Capcom wouldn’t alienate past DMC fans by not including Dante in playable form. They are just purposefully being vague on the situation. However, when asked if Dante would be playable the producer only had this to say:
“Would you like Dante to be playable? Well, at some point during the game your perspective will change.”
Take that however you want.
Why does Nero look like he would be a son of Sparda?
The producer stated that they were keeping with the DMC theme of symbolism with Nero’s design and color scheme (including hair and eyes). He states that Nero isn’t a son of Sparda, but that he has a deeper connection to Dante other than just appearance.
Is Vergil in this?
Vergil has been more or less confirmed. He has had numerous concept arts (but concepts change as production moves along). However, the producer stated that Vergil is important to the DMC series and that he is unwilling to reveal the role he plays in this. Due to a large fanbase (according to the director) it would be really surprising if Vergil didn’t appear in this game in some form or another.
What about Dante’s leading lady?
Well Nero has a leading lady in this game. Her name is Kyrie. As for Dante, footage that we didn’t see has a chick watching Nero and Dante’s battle. Kobayashi didn’t reveal who the girl was but said that she was someone that we’ve seen before. Seeing how this takes place before DMC2, that rules out Lucia. However, that leaves either Lady or Trish.
What are Nero's known weapons?
Nero's sword is called the Red Queen. His gun is called the Blue Rose.
Will the Style System return?
When playing as Nero there will be no style system. But it hasn’t been ruled out that Dante will be using the style system when you play as him (if).
Who are the voice actors?
Only two are confirmed so far:
Dante – Reuben Langdon
Nero - Johnny Yong Bosch
Anything new about the gameplay this time around?
Nero’s Devil Bringer has a couple uses that are known so far. Nero can pull far away enemies in close. He can throw enemies away from him. And he can slam them into the ground. If Nero is airborne he can pull grounded enemies into the air to dish out some pain.
Can Nero devil trigger?
As it stands now, the only thing demonic about Nero is his possessed arm. It is unknown whether or not he will be able to transform. However, the director stated that Nero’s sword, Red Queen, has a motorcycle design to the grip which can be used to apparently accelerate attacks. What that means exactly is unknown as he wasn’t willing to go indepth with it.
So what can we expect from the enemy department?
According to Itsuno they are trying to implement more enemies into this game compared to other DMC games. He also went on to say that there will be more bosses as well. That is all that is known at this time.
What about the weapons? Anything new there?
Yup. Details aren't known, but Itsuno has stated that there will be more weapons this time around. So if 5 devil arms and 5 firearms weren't enough for you in DMC3 you'll be happy to know that you'll have more variety to play around with in DMC4.
DMC3 had an actual story with plenty of cutscenes. Are they going to stick with this for the next game?
Apparently, Kobayashi and Itsuno are planning on having much more cutscenes to entertain us with. There are supposed to be more cutscenes in DMC4 than all previous DMC games combined.
Are the cinemas going to be as crazy as they were in DMC3?
Yup. Yuji Shimomura is once again directing the cinemas for DMC4.
Will this game constantly hand me my ass?
It has been confirmed that this will be the hardest DMC game yet. However, don’t be afraid as the easier modes aren’t going to go out their way to make your experience uncomfortable. Kobayashi stated that playing through normal won’t be a rough experience, but as you progress through the game the difficulty will be upped.
Where can I find out more about this game?
The official DMC4 website is in Japanese and English. It has screen shots, concept art, and even the official trailer.
