For about 10 minutes, until you realized it was nothing but a novelty. It's best used on super units like Carriers and Battlecruisers, not wimpy units like SCVs.

The reason why is basically it was a game of rock, paper, scissors.

No, it isn't. All races can perform equally against each other if you use them correctly.

One race had a lot of things to beat other races (EMP Shockwave just destroyed Protoss) but if you had two races that complimented one another well then you were set. Usually it was just Protoss + Terran against Zerg or Protoss + Zerg against Terran.

Maybe if you're a complete noob, or have no experience with the game on anything other than single player with cheats on, this may be true. However, in COMPETITIVE multiplayer games, if you're stupid enough to try to make a second base with another race you will get your ass kicked before you know whats happening to you. The enormous waste of resources on gaining all new technologies isn't worth spending considering the 200 supply max is more than enough to beat any player.
Maybe you should get some actual experience with the game before you start calling me dumb, Aztec. There's a REASON the best Starcraft players in the world don't use that strategy- it doesn't work!
