Heya Guys

***First of all, it is my goal to beat the game by myself without using FAQ or Walkthrough... so please just try to just give advice or point me in the right direction.. DONT tell me *exactly* what to do! Many thanks***

Im playing FF IV on the DS

Cecil : Lv 43
Yang: Lv 44
Kain: Lv 39
Rosa: Lv 37
Cid: Lv 42

I blew a crater in the mountains and flew the ship down to Underworld.

There is a Dwarf Castle where they're safekeeping a crystal.

Cid leaves my party, so now its just 4 of us

6 muppets show up, I beat them easily by killing the purple ones in the back first

Goblez shows up..

I cast PROTECT & SHELL on Cecil, (using Cecil & Rosa)

Golbez paralyzes my party, summons a dark dragon that kills everyone except Cecil

Rydia shows up and kills the dark dragon and removes Paralyze on Cecil

Then here's where I have alot problems.. Golbez is very powerful and gains HP when I hit him with the wrong element. His weakness seems to be always 1 of the 3: Fire, Wind or Thunder

When I cast Libra or use item Bestiary, I can find out his weakness and then using Cecil I hit him with a potion (Fira, Blizzarda, or Thundara) or use Rydia's Black Magic..

But then Golbez uses Barrier Shift to change his weakness every time I hit him with the right element

Then I have to cast Libra or use Bestiary all over again, while Golbez is casting Drain, Osmose or Sap.. and just kills off Rydia quickly, and then Cecil a few turns later

So far Phoneix Down or Raise has been very useless in this battle because Golbez immeidately targets the recovered character and kills them off again before they can do anything

The best sword I have for Cecil that *does not* have an element is the Sleep Blade (attack 55).. it will hit Golbez without raising his HP.. Maybe I try using that more? I normally use Stoneblade which gives Cecil attack of 77.. but is no good agansit Golbez

Do I need to level up more? Somehow I feel I am at the right level already cause I am killing all the monsters in Underworld with ease/Autobattle.. its getting to be very repetive.. no challenge at all.. but yet I cant beat Golbez...

Any hints or points in the right direction would be greatly greatly appreciated

I seem to remember reviving everyone. Try putting the Phoenix Down/Hi-Potion commands in the moment Golbez casts a spell. If you can get Rosa up and healed, you're good to revive/heal everyone else. The non-magic-users can use Potions/Hi-Potions/Ethers/whatever, and Rydia can use summon spells.

I feel for ya, this is a nasty fight. Don't give up, the game ahead is well worth the trouble!

Thanks guys I just beat Golbez a couple hours ago on my lunch break.. geez

I finally did it by casting Rydia using Phoneix Down on Rosa , Cecil covering Rosa before Golbez could hurt her, and then used Exilir on both Rosa and Rydia for full HP n MP, and then alternated with Cura, Beastiary, Summons

Left Kain and Yang lying on the ground, o'well.

Now to play the rest of the game!!! Its been like 4 days since Ive been able to proceed further!
