Riku(KH) and Rikku(FF10)
Okay whats up with Rikku(FF) and Riku(KH). Tetsuya Nomura was the character designer for both FF 10 and KH. Why would he name pretty much name two characters the same. Thoughts on why Tetsuya would do that. Though FF 10 came out first their develeopment definetly overlapped and I doubt Tetsuya named Riku(KH) without thinking about Rikku(FF). Thoughts?

It's just a name. The lack of a letter is enough to differentiate between them. I'm not sure what said names might mean in Japanese. However, even though they look identical to use, they could mean entirely different things in Japanese. It's like asking why we have Daniel and Danielle, Dave and Davina, Jean and John, and such like.

Riku is land in japanese (land, or air whatever) and rikku i have no idea. Riku was named like that because the 3 main characters- riku, sora and kairi all mean land air and sea.

The names are different, and I don't think there's any underlying relation. Riku has a definite meaning to his name in relation to what Sora and Kairi mean, but I think Rikku is just a fantasy name derived from Nipponophone (is that a word?) sounds.

I think its in respect of some singer. Rikku (FFX) is actually modelled off this singer. I got a bonus disk with FFX that showed you her and she was a spitting double. Tetsuya has great respect for this Rikku and so uses her name more than once. The missing k is probably so he didnt have two characters named the same.
