Both have amazing qualities, which make them better than the other, the most obvious of which are the differences in the role of the plot in the game. The first, while it obviously introduces the story of Kingdom Hearts, doesn't gete too involved in developing a plot (though the character development was immense). We were much more focused on battles, puzzles, travelling ... even Item Synthesis was a sub-quest on its own. Kingdom Hearts II, on the other hand, was much more plot-orientated and such aspects as I previously mentioned were given priority #2. The second seemed to be more of an interactive film, really, where battling was just there for the sake of making it a game.
Both games still take 100% from me, though.

I would have to agree with Reality Fantasy on this one. I would have to make them equal. The first one is a good one to play. You get to know how the controls work as well as you get a pretty good understanding of the storyline. The second one is good because they add extra things for you to do, such as abilities and weapons. And the storyline carries along with the first one and CoM. So they kinda help each other out. I can't say one is better than the other.

kh1 vs kh2
i first got kh1 about a year ago and i enjoyed playing it, but then the disk broke and i found kh2 so i bought it, and i enjoyed the quests and missions more than the first, the gummi menu could have been the same on 2 as it is on 1 but, i finaly bought 1 again and i can really see the difference because it took me a while to get use the 1st kh commands and controls like you carnt use reactions by pressing triangle and the summons are better than 2. overall i think that 2 is better for the game play and story lines, but 1 i better for gummi menu and weaponry

I dunno which I prefer, they bothirritated me equally.....although I SUPPOSE I lean more towards the second one because the worlds weren't as maze like
But then it hacked me off having to revisit each world in the second one and having no bloody choice over it....
Oh I dunno, I think I have a love hate relationship with these games....and it's pretty equal <_<
Im glad the second one had 'skip scene' though or it might have gone out of my window at one point......well, several points actually

Well after playing them in reverse order KH1 never stood a chance IMO as KH2 had better graphics, and an easier to use camera system also from what i played it was alot easier than the first one to lol But after like 30 minutes of game play KH1 showed how crap it was and i took it out of my PS and started playing KH2 again

Quite simply... Kingdom Hearts.
Kingdom Hearts II was lacking in extra fun shit to do, was easy as piss on Proud mode, and then the whole 'nobodies' shit.
zomg guise, we has no emotionz.
I swear, that irritated the piss out of me, because you know.... Two hours into the game, Axel is bearing his heart and soul to Roxas, confessing his undying love. fail.
At least Kingdom Hearts managed to make some kind of sense and was a challenging game. =\

Kingdom Hearts - Most definitely! =D
Seriously, Kingdom Hearts II lacked alot of extra stuff just like "L" said and it was so easy in Proud Mode! I honestly expected alot from this game considering the fact that it took like 3/4 years to make *sighs* I remember first buying it with my job money xD
Kingdom Hearts is the best game, HANDS DOWN! It was everything what you expected in a video game!
Kingdom Hearts - Hardest KH game & best gameplay!
Kingdom Hearts II - Deep meaningful storyline!

Kingdom Hearts II was better imo. The way you leveled up and traveled from world to world was much more practical than in the first game. It also wasn't as time consuming as the first, which I think is a plus.

i like both for three reasons each
Kingdom hearts 1:
1 i love the difficulty
2 the way you can gain experience in the olympos collisem
3 i love the tough boss battles
kingdom hearts 2:
1 the drive forms are awsome
2 the way you can weild two keyblades at the same time
3 and finally i love the new abilities and how they work well with the newest keyblades. pure awsomeness
