I'm not exactly a master at photoshop, and I can do nowhere as good as you guys, but I tried to make my own sig with the limited stuff I know.
I was just wondering if you thought it was at all good?

Hah, I certainly like it anyway. XD Johnny Depp ftw! Although I really don't know the first thing about photoshop, but it looks good to me. ;D
Edit: Although one thing that I did just notice, it's quite difficult to read the text against the background white...

Hey it's pretty good, I can tell you that. I'm not really a fan of scanlines in general though, but that's just me. And the text is pretty hard to read, but other than that, not so bad at all.

What about a browny-reddy colour? It would sort of match Jack Sparrow and his headband etc. I think... Worth a try if you haven't already done so. :p

Put it this way I have seen much, much worse than what you have made, I like the way you have kept your design within your capabilities and haven't tried going over the top with something amazingly advanced.
At least you have a border which most people don't when they start out, so for that I applaud you.
As for the scanlines, meh, it wouldn't worry about it so much since you have a render in front of it it doesn't really matter all that much.
Text, try a c6a16d as a stroke colour.
I likes the sig, and you definitely have future potential if you keep it up

There're probably easier ways to do this but, to bring out that text more clearly, I always seem to either just mess around with the blending options or really make good use of the sponge tool. The blending options are the best way to go for bringing out the text in that particular sig ... I'd personally experiment with drop-shadows and the various measurements you can change.
