Red Cliff

I don't know much about this movie yet, but I know it is about the Battle of Red Cliff in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. It is a chinese movie so when it is released, it's going to be subbed or dubbed, I'm not really sure yet. I also know it's going to be split up into two parts because they just can't fit everything into one movie. They are aiming to release it in 2008 just before the Olympic games in China.

I am expecting big things out of this movie. I don't really like the director that much, but he has directed some American movies such as Mission Impossible II which was an alright movie, but I just hope he can pull off a major aspect of Chinese history in this movie

It better be good, I love the history behind these events and have been waiting for a movie for years.

I am super excited to see this movie when it gets released here in the US. From all the trailers I have seen, this movie looks promising and I can't wait to see Chen Chang's role in this movie since he is going to portray Sun Quan's character. Yes, I am a huge Dynasty Warriors fan. <3

I just hope its better than Resurrection of the Dragon, an amazingly disappointing movie about the life of Zhao Yun starring Andy Lau (one of my favorite HK actors)... that one had so much going for it, and looked so great, but wehn it came out this year, I got a hold of a copy through my import source... and... ugh... it was terrible. Red Cliff looks just as promising as that one did, so I'm waiting for it with bated breath. I really hope its as good as it looks like it will be, but I'm quite afraid it will be just another disappointment... at least I'll always have the books and the brilliant Chinese TV show to comfort me when such failures torment my love for this legend.

I agree. I thought the Resurrection of the Dragon was a bit boring after Maggie Q got on screen. I can't get into a movie that is based on a historical novel that adds fictional characters which ends up screwing up the whole movie for me. Now that Red Cliff has been released in China, there have been alot of mixed reviews. Some were good and others were bad. I am hoping this movie is gets released out here in the US so I can see it for myself and hope to give it a good review.

I haven't watched this movie yet... But from the trailers, it's gonna be a good one, that's for sure!

Takeshi looks good in this movie, together with Tony Leung... And the action sequences are beautifully filmed, something like LOTR: ROTK... Btw, isn't there gonna be a 2nd movie next year?

Yes, this movie will be split into two parts with the first part already released in Asia. The 2nd part is to be released January 2009. I am still looking and waiting for a US release date of this movie but so far nothing has been said.

I'd be surprised if it came Stateside before fall 2009 or even 2010... you may have to import.
