Actually... last I heard, it was late October (last week of the month) for the UK and early November (first week of the month) for the wide release... and yes, Casino Royale kicked ass... and I can't wait to see the new one. My uncle and I have already made plans to see it during the openning weekend (my uncle and I are like the only two Bond fans in my family).

It's also the name of the short story on which the new movie is based.

Still, I think there is very little continuity in the Bond movies. At least not enough so that it matters, and after a certain point in the movies (midway through Moore's tenure) that Bond movies show little or no reference to previous movies.
|
No there isn't much, you have recurring characters ie the russian played by coltrane, the CIA guy, Felix, until he is eaten by a shark, I think he may refer to Felix in a movie made after his death, and villains, ie Jaws and SPECTRE and his relationship with M, moneypenny and Goodnight to name just a few.
The books have more continuity than the movies.
You have to remember Fleming wrote during the cold war, hence why the most of the villains are Russian, and now post cold war all the Villains arent affiliated with the Soviet Union/Russia, but now countries like North Korea provide the villains.
Casino Royale is almost a prequel to the bond series, as it doesn't have any real impact on the other novels. Because it is before all the others, it is like Takk says, a reboot, the other bond may as well not have existed, in terms of plot.
I would have prefered Casino Royale's ending to be more similar to the novel's it would make QOS better imo

This is after Dark Knight my most awaited movie of the year, Casino Royale brought back my interst in the Bond films after some pretty poor ones. Hoping to see that the rumors from a while ago about Al Pacino being the head of the organization are true, he's apparently going to make a short appearance in this film and have a bigger role in the next which would bloody brilliant.
And despite where the name comes from the name just sounds silly, it sounds like a Star Trek episode or something.

Jack White and Alicia Keys will record Another Day to Die, the first duet in the history of James Bond theme tunes.
|
Yeah, I had heard that earlier today or some such...Certainly sounds like an...interesting duo. Should be good though! F Amy Whinehouse in the A. She sucks...I don't understand why she's popular at all (if she actually is and it's not just a paparatsi thing)...

I was actually holding out for The Last Shadow Puppets to be chosen for it. From the sound of The Age Of The Understatement, that's what they were gunning for when they wrote the album. But Jack White is a good lyricist at least. Not too excited about Keys.

Coming very soon, QoS.
New James Bond, but apparently it's much shorter than all the previous ones. I can't wait, it should have action, hot wimminz and witty one liners.
I can't think of any other movies at the moment.

Ditto, although I'm not going to expect another film as good as Casino Royale. It'll be a long time, if ever, that that is topped. I've also found out that the "the name's Bond; James Bond" line wont be in Quantum of Solace.

Huh? That's ridiculous. Why would they purposely exclude that line? These Bond movies are becoming less and less...Bond-like.
But yeah, Quantum of Solace is pretty much the only upcoming movie of interest that I know of. Looks pretty badass.
