Indiana Jones

So...what's all this about? I know the 4th movie just came out, and I really don't know if I want to see it or not...especially since I have never seen any of the previous movies. (Please tell me I'm not alone in this) But, I heard that the 4th one has...aliens in them...? A bit of a turn-off, but perhaps I'll go see it anyway.

I watched half of it last night, gonna watch the other half tonight. It's um...well, everyone knows how George Lucas ruined Star Wars with the new trilogy. He kinda killed Indy with this.

To enjoy this movie you will REALLY have to suspend your disbelief. Indy survives a fucking NUCLEAR BLAST in a REFRIGERATOR. Not kidding you. He crawls inside, the nuclear blast wipes out the mock town he's in, his fridge is launched down a rocky hill smashing on everything, it finally comes to a stop and he comes out fine and dandy. And yes, it has aliens in it. The acting is kinda halfassed too.

I could go on and on about it, but it's easier to watch Spoony's rants on it.

That is retarded he survives a nuclear blast just by hiding in a refrigerator. I wouldn't mind watching that movie some people say it is really good.

Mod Edit: Please remember to put spoilers next time. Thanks.

DON'T. For the love of god, stay away from this movie. I just finished watching this movie and I'm pissed at it. It's complete crap and totally bastardized the series.

George Lucas's dirty fingerprints are ALL OVER this movie too. The aliens look like this species from Star Wars too. He didn't even bother trying to be halfway original.

*fumes*

Seriously, to anyone who loved the Indy movies as a kid, avoid this movie like the plague. To anyone who hasn't seen the originals before, watch those and stay far away from this movie. It's like Lucas and Spielberg watched a marathon of Looney Tunes, then decided to turn them into a live action movie and throw Indy into it. You know how in cartoons you'll see someone bend a tree down to the ground, then let go so it smacks back into someone chasing them? They did that in this fucking movie. The commies are chasing Indy and co. and crazy Marion drives over a cliff onto a tree that bends all the way down to the riverbed, then they drive off nonchalantly and the branch swings back and smacks the commies that were repelling down the cliff. And it gets even MOAR unbelievable. Right after that they go over THREE waterfalls and survive. The first two they land RIGHT SIDE UP in their jeep and the third is practically Niagra Falls sized and their jeep capsizes and they just walk away perfectly fine.

The only people who could possible enjoy this movie are those who've never seen the previous Indy movies or have the ability to suspend ALL disbelief. This movie is a fucking travesty and it should never EVER have been made. It's no wonder Sean Connery and several other actors turned down working in it after reading the script.

I enjoyed it. probably because ithad the feeling of an Indiana Jones movie, just a tad bit more scifi. They kept to the same filming techniques as the other movies. and I think the only one that had mediocre acting in it was Harrison Ford. the others did pretty well IMO.

On a plus side to VR's rant the Fedora was cool.

But yeah, he is spot on really. It doesn't feel like an Indy movie whatsoever, I think Shia Le Beouf had an awful role to play, he just reminded me of one of the guys from 'Grease', if anyone ever sees this film and Grease you'll know why (He's in the middle of a fight and he'll go "STOP! Let me comb my hair")...and I would love to know what the crack was with that Tarzan scene when he's stuck in the tree so he 'swings' his way out of it

I think the thing that annoyed me the most is that it didn't seem to have definitive plot and it took the first 20/30mins to even get the slightest clue what the storyline was going to be about...CGI + Lucas + Indy = No go! Albeit, the film had its comedy moments (not in a good way).

I mean hell, we don't have to be scared of a nuclear war anymore. POWER TO THE FRIDGES!!!!

Oh god, that part was idiotic. It was like it turned into a frigging Disney movie. So all of a sudden the friendly monkeys decide to teach him how to swing from vines and he catches up to two speeding vehicles? Right. I know Indy movies have always been a little on the unrealistic side, but that's just plain corny.

We don't have to be scared of ANYTHING in that movie. One of the things about the old Indy movies is that there's always a looming sense of danger. But it seems like everyone is practically invincible in this movie. If someone can survive a nuclear blast in a fridge AND casually stroll off after falling down three waterfalls, it kinda makes you feel like you're watching Dragon Ball Z.

I'm one of those that compared to other films that have tried to copy Indy it was a good film in it's own right and there was something wonderfully nostalgic about seeing Ford playing Indy again. However compared to Raiders and Last Crusade and what I feel makes an Indy film it just wasn't on that level although I've still not fully decided if it was better or worse than ToD. Some people thought it was bad enough that they walked out the cinema which was funny.

My main problem is that you can see exactly what moments Lucas was directly involved with and I wish that he would just fuck off and take his ego with him. This film would have been made 15 years ago if it wasn't for him and I'm kinda dreading how this supposed Mutt Williams spinoff series he wants to do will fare (I say shit). Shia wasn't as bad as I feared although he isn't in any way a credible leading man (or actor for that matter) and lets be honest we want to see Indy not this Disney tool.

I have to say that me and my flatmate both shouted out loud at the end when they had the scene when Indy takes his hat from Mutt which was just glorious to see. I would have burnt down the cinema in pure nerd-rage if he put it on.

Augh, what is with people hatin' on Temple of Doom? I rather enjoyed it. Granted, it had some pretty unrealistic moments (crash landing on a mountain, then going off into a river in a raft; pulling the guy's beating heart out) but it wasn't NEAR as ridiculous as Crystal Skulls, and it still had that looming sense of danger to it.

You mean like how that alien at the end looked almost identical to a species from Star Wars? Lucas has been senile ever since he made The Phantom Menace, and tbqh I worry about anything Star Wars related he's planning to do, like that CGI series coming to TV...it just looks crap.

Nah, Shia wasn't all that bad in it...really I don't mind the kid when he's kept in the type of movies he suits. He's not a versatile actor, all he can play is the awkward dorky teenager (I suppose that's to be expected since it was all he played on Disney for so long). He's fine in that type of role, like in iRobot or Disturbia...but he does not belong as Indy's sidekick. I miss Short Round, he was awesome. "Hey lady, you call him Doctah Jones!" He always put that singer bitch in her place
