I liked ToD and don't entirely get the hate it usually receives from some but I wasn't a fan of the darker tone of the film and it had the most annoying heroine of the series, this was the other film where Lucas hadn't had his leash on tight enough at the time when it came to his input and it showed. The last 30/45 mins were awesome though. Overall the two films were good but both had several major flaws that just made them weak when compared to the other two.

I was more referring to certain scenes with CGI monkeys but the whole alien thing that was going on was out of place although I understand why they went with that.
As for Star Wars I've heard about this TV series that may be out within a couple of years. The CGI Clone Wars movie is out at the cinema this year. I don't have hope for either of them.

He's fine in that type of role, like in iRobot or Disturbia...but he does not belong as Indy's sidekick. I miss Short Round, he was awesome. "Hey lady, you call him Doctah Jones!" He always put that singer bitch in her place

Short Round would have been awesome in this movie and would have been better than Shia anyday. I missed my Sallah fix as well. His other partners in this film were wasted imo, Ray Winstone's character served no real purpose other than to be a plot device and Marion appeared way too late in the movie to make that much of an impression.

Eh, I liked this film. Sure, it wasn't like a proper Indie film but overall I really enjoyed it. Some parts had me thinking 'whaaaaa?', particularly the whole nuclear explosion shabang, but I'll admit that I thought it was pretty cool to see even though it was just a *tad* far-fetched. Oh, and speaking of far-fetched, the crystal skull/alien thing in general was pretty ridiculous throughout I thought, most especially at the end which just left me with a " " look on my face. BUT saying that, it was an enjoyable film and did have it's good moments, and I liked Cate Blanchett in it. Although I didn't really understand what the deal was with her and Indie, at some points they seemed to be working together but then at others they were trying to kill each other? Meh.

The monkeys were retarded, as were the groundhogs The ants I didn't actually mind, cept for that one part where they climbed up into the air to reach Cate Blanchett. It wasn't so much that the ants did that either (since there's one species of ants that will build structures with their bodies), but the CGI was just so poorly done it looked like an oozing blob. CGI is one thing, but when you make it look like a 10 year old Pixar film...not up to standards.

Oh, the CGI one is a movie? I didn't pay enough attention to the commercial. I dunno why the hell he's even doing the Clone Wars again, he already had Genndy Tartakovsky do that cartoon series on it (which was actually damn good, anything he does is win).

Ah, Sallah, how I enjoyed his character. Actually I enjoy any character John Rhys-Davies plays, the guy is awesome. I think the first thing I ever saw him in was The Lost World, he stood out so much since he was the only good actor in the film
According to IMDb's FAQ's on the movie, Sallah wasn't in the movie because:

According to George Lucas the adventure does not see Jones go to the Middle East therefore Sallah isn't needed in this film.
|
I suppose Lucas had to think of some halfassed excuse after John turned down the role. And this just makes me weep:
Quote:
George Lucas has revealed to FoxNews that there is more than a strong possibility that there will be a fifth "Indiana Jones" movie. Apparently, Steven Spielberg has left the door open for a sequel to "Indiana Jones 4."
"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison [Ford] this," he said. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."
"And it's not like Harrison is even old. I mean, he's 65 and he did everything in this movie," Lucas continued. "The old chemistry is there, and it's not like he's an old man. He's incredibly agile; he looks even better than he did 20 years ago, if you ask me."

Don't go blaming Lucas... thats like become a bandwagon excuse for anything bad... remember, Steven Spielberg wanted to do it this way, too... and he has just as much background in Sci-Fi as Lucas does.

Ok, guys this has been bugging me about how little you guys know. The nuclear blast thing, if you paid attention, it was a refridgerator made with lead. They were made that way back then. Lead can survive a nuclear blast. Also, it's George Lucas, aliens and CGI is his thing If Steven Speilberg wasn't working on it, the movie would end up being Star Wars 7. The only bad part was Shai Lawhatever, but he ruins everything he's in. The aliens was a pretty good thing, and not totally unbelieveable after they had things like Ark of the Covenant melting faces, the Holy Grail and a centuries old knight, and whatever the hell was going on in Temple of Doom. man that one sucked....
anyway, the only problem with the plot was that he wasn't really being an archeologist. He was just helping the aliens get their head back. I mean, the other ones, he was looking for artifacts and stuff. And Salleh is his friend in the middle east. He wasn't in Temple of Doom either, he's only been in the ones that have been in the middle east. That's why he isn't in this one.

Lucas - what the hell are you sucking on, man? Like Hell, Ford looks as good as he did twenty years ago. It's a sad fact but Harrison Ford is old and, in my eyes, he was too old to star as Indiana Jones again. I suppose it's selfish to think that way but I wanted to remember the character, of Indiana Jones, as young or at least middle aged. I don't want to see my heros old and grey headed. I really wish Crystal Skull hadn't been made! I sound like such a B right now, but it's the way I feel! The Last Crusade was a masterpiece, in my opinion, and I figured that was the last in the series.
The last scene, with our hero riding into the sunset, was absolutely perfect. It was an image that could really stay in our mind and was perfect farewell to that ' hero' . Well, Crystal Skull just wasn't half the movie and I keep thinking, all during it: I really wish I was watching something else and I felt, most of the time, sad! I hated seeing Indiana aged like that!
Despite all that, it was a decent movie, not wonderful but decent. I won't be bothered to buy or rent, of course, I didn't like the alien deal, AT ALL and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. Anyway, there's my rant.

And that's all fine and dandy, I realize lead can withstand radiation. But you're forgetting something else very basic: if YOU had paid attention, you would have noticed that everything in the room started to melt or catch on fire from the intense heat. That heat would have made the lead (i.e. metal) fridge extremely hot, and would have burnt Indy to a crisp. Also, another thing you seemed to have overlooked is that the fridge is launched a good mile or two and goes tumbling down a rocky hill. There are no dents in it at all, and when Indy gets out he's perfectly fine. Don't you think his internal organs would have suffered some trauma from all that, or perhaps he might have gotten a concussion? And pleeeeease, if you're so knowledgeable about this movie, explain to me just HOW Indy and his friends fall down THREE waterfalls and walk away from it perfectly fine, and the first two waterfalls they even managed to land right side up? To me, that seems much more ridiculous than in Temple of Doom when Indy freefalls from a plane in a life boat, crash lands on a snowy mountain and rides off a cliff into a river.

I dunno, I thought Ford himself did fine. Yeah he's a bit old, but given the timeline in the series he should be older. I think it was the script that was more of the problem. No matter how good of an actor you are, you can only put forth so much of your talent when the script you're given is utter garbage.

Oh yeah, I agree with you there. Ford is a fantastic actor and he does well, in pretty much everything he does. And yes, Indiana should be older given the timeline and when the movie was set. Maybe if there had been a better script, perhaps, I would've taken to it alot better. It was just, ugh, tough for me to watch at times! The movie had it's good and bad.
