2008 Oscars
So, does anybody ever watch these? They're coming on this Sunday, Feb 24th. I'm going to watch soley for Johnny and Sweeney Todd and PotC: At World's End to see if they win anything. Are you guys rooting for anybody or any movies in particular to win? What I know of the nominees for Actor in a Leading Role are:
George Clooney
Daniel-Day Lewis
Johnny Depp
Tommy Lee Jones
Viggo Mortensen
Of course I'm rooting for Johnny, but if he doesn't win then George Clooney or Tommy Lee Jones all the way!

Laura Linney

I'm going for Cate Blanchett on this one or Julie Christie.
Sweeney Todd has also been nominated for Art Direction and Costume Design. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was nominated for Make-up and Visual Effects. Transformers was nominated for Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects and The Bourne Ultimatum was also nominated for Sound Editing and Sound mixing which are the films I'm rooting for. So what about you guys? Does anybody get into watching this at all?

Iv never really been all that fussed about the oscars tbh, I dont think Iv ever watched it in my life. The only time I ever know someone has ever won one is if it happens to be on the front a DVD when I buy a new one

The movie called Eastern Promises. I've never heard of it before and actually wondered the same thing. It's hard to say. All I know is that I want Johnny to win this one. He deserves to win.

Ah, I didn't realise he was in that. I saw an advert for the DVD a couple of days ago; it's about to be released. A film about the Russian Mafia, I think. It looks pretty good.

I'm watching them and of course rooting for Johnny Depp to win best actor, he was amazing in Sweeney Todd, my favorite film of the year so far and probably my favorite for the rest of the year. If not then Tommy Lee Jones or Viggo (who was awesome in Eastern promises).
I'm hopeful that Sweeney will win the category for Art Direction or Costume design. The team working on Sweeney were awesome and I'm not quite sure who will be winning visual...PotC or Transformers...Davey Jones looked REAL in the third PotC...but then again, can it match the huge mecha robo's?
Then again No Country was amazing too and Daniel Day Lewis was superb as were the Coen brothers for coming up wtih such an awesome film...I'm too torn for choice!
