i think it is so people don't abuse the feature and post horribly huge pictures and lag down the shoutbox, it happened last time we has the shoutbox and with the chatroom, so i think its been disabled this time.

I think it was either Saix or Busta who mentioned to me that such codes and whatnot were disabled from the shoutbox. So aye, it was intentional. Something about lag, spam and scrolling, I believe.

Probably scrolling. Lag was only a problem with the chat room, because we were on a shared server. We're on a private one now, so that shouldn't be a problem. This brings up shoutbox moderation again, which was pretty much ignored last time. More wood for the fire though.
And while we're at it, whenever you post a £, the shoutbox freezes up and your shout doesn't go through. I'm pretty sure that isn't intentional. It's nothing big, but it's rather annoying when it happens.

i think some special characters cause problems - i still have problems with the percent key...
As for moderation of the shoutbox i believe Busta mentioned that when he was Readmined ALL moderators would be given Shoutbox powers - and since theres more than enough mods i think that'll be ok.

Correct. Images have been disabled right from the introduction of the Shoutbox. The Shoutbox is for casual conversations. It's already in such a confined place that it doesn't need to be cluttered anymore. Smilies are fine. Images will remain off unless Darkblade wishes to change that. |

But yea, I'm glad the IMG tags aren't in there. It slows down the forums enough as it is. Having pictures displayed in full size not only bogs down the site but it also tempts more mischievous members (Adamant) to post unreasonably large pictures to crash the whole damn thing.
