And once you hit 50 you need your usergroup to change to member/full member whatever it is, which can take like 24 hours, so once you DO reach that, have some patience and you will be in

It's always been and always will be 50 posts. Once he reaches 50 posts he must wait 24 hours as his usergroup changes over to the appropriate one. Also, please do not spam your way to 50 posts. You will end up getting your posts deleted and it'll just take you even longer to get up there. If you've not yet read our rules on spam, please read the Site Rules.
