First timer with FINAL FANTASY
Hi, I was checking Final Fantasy XIII screens a couple of days ago the game looks awesome but I never played any final fantasy game before ,so i was wondering what game is best to get me started with the whole thing. I couldn't choose since there are a lot of final fantasy games out there, so i thought this is the best place to ask since there are a lot of final fantasy fans in here.
P.S. I don't have a problem with the games being on any console as long as it's a good start for the series

Final Fantasy 6 was grand. It's for GBA, but you can just download an emulator and some ROMs since it's on GBA and shit.
Final Fantasy VII is for PS1, but there's a PC version too. In addition to that, there are emulators for PS1 aswell. A lot of the good Final Fantasies were on PS1. Final Fantasy VIII has crappy characters, IX was apparently good, but I haven't played it. FFVII is overhyped, but play it before you let anyone tell you it's the best, or you'll probably be disappointed with it. Bloody good game, but it's extremely overhyped.
For PS1 emulators, you need to download ISOs. Don't ask me for links, use google.
The only one that really holds any appeal to me on PS2 is Final Fantasy X.
But you should undoubtedly check out Final Fantasy Tactics. it's my favorite. <3
Great story, great characters, great battle system... it's orgasmic.

I'll move this to the Help booth section.
I suggest starting off with the SNES series. You can get IV, V, and VI on the GBA or for the ps1. From them move on to the PS1 installments such as VII, VIII, and IX. Don't spoil yourself with fancy looking graphics with FFX and FFXII.

If you were drawn in by the nice graphics and cyber-style of FFXIII and Versus, I'd imagine that playing the classics would be a bit difficult.
Pick up Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII. If you like Final Fantasy VII, then be sure to watch 'Advent Children' and buy 'Crisis Core' for the PSP that will be coming out.
If you're not too much of a graphics whore [Like me], then be sure to get Final Fantasy IV, VI, Tactics, and IX.
