Best armour overall: Break HP Limit, Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect and Ribbon. (Downside is building HP is monstrously time-consuming)
Ultimate Arena Creation armour: Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Potion and Auto-Phoenix.
For the PAL/International version of FFX, making these armours will stand you in good stead for the Dark Aeons/Penance: -
Ultimate Dark Aeon armour:
Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Phoenix and Ribbon/Stoneproof. (Useful for all Dark Aeons with the exception of D. Yojimbo)
Ultimate D. Yojimbo armour:
Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Defence +20% and Ribbon/Stoneproof.
Ultimate Penance armour:
Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect, Auto-Potion and Defence + 20%. (can also be used for D. Yojimbo if your intention is to create as few armours as possible)

They reduce the defence stat of ANY ENEMY down to 0 so long as it's a physical attack not an Overdrive assault. However, they don't carry the Piercing ability and neither can you customise it on the weapon. Therefore, maximum damage cannot be attained when against heavily armoured foes whilst at low stats unless you've paved the way using Armour Break. However, when your guys are dealing 99,999 damage to nearly everyone, Armour Break is no longer required.

Str, Def, Mag Def, Agility and Accuracy are parameters in which I believe you should max out. Magic is secondary and you can keep Evasion in the hundreds. HP is purely your decision.
For Dark Aeons/Penance, your Luck stat should be maxed out to the minimum of 130.
