yeah i think you need to level up a bit.
you also need gambits curaja when character health is less than 40% or something like that.
and renew for KO'd people.
level up in the golmore jungle at the feywood end, kill all the hellhounds and etc and then dark soldiers spawn and you get almost 1k exp for each one, you can get an unlimited chain as well

Well get all level 3 quickenings for your main party. Not because you are going to use them, but the mp boost they give. Your level is pretty good for this stage, but make sure your armour is decent. You could go to Nabudis and buy Maximillians and Helmets from the secret shop.
Save the queens can be bought from Balfornheim too.

I'd mostly suggest that you have all White Magic and buff spells ( Faith, Brave etc. ), they were the ones that I definitely found most useful in the latter stages. Hastega would also be a recommendation.
My main trio were all above Lv.60, with one of them at 70. The only other character I used at any point during it was Lv. 40, but that was only to buy time for healing and be a damage magnet.
As for levelling, Nabreus Deadlands and the Necrohol were my choices, but the Deadlands are slightly kinder so that's maybe the better option.
Good luck.

I originally took this guy in my 40's, then again in the 90's. Things you'll need:
1. Bubble (either the spell or Belts)
2. Curaja
3. Plenty of MP, this means have all your quickenings learned (but don't ever use them, waste of your MP)
You don't need any uber weapons, just the strongest you can buy or find with minimal ease will do (Deathbringer and Ragnarok come to mind).
If you have gambits set up for the fight, great, but you'll need to override them on his third form eventually since he casts those stupid palings that make him immune to everything. When he does this all you can do is keep healing yourselves and castings buffs (but avoid Shellga, it'll work against you).
If you need to lvl, then use the Negalmuur auto-leveling trick:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/459841/45730
Just be sure to include a gambit at top priority for Self -> Remedy or Doom -> Remedy on your party leader ONLY. The guide fails to mention that part.

I think weapon wise save the queen is plenty powerful enough, make sure you have curaga or curaja set as a gambit (I have...... ally 50< curaga, I find that using curaja is to costly on the mp), bravery, protect and haste are about the only good status affects/spells that I use these days.
If you want to level up get embroidered tippets and go to Giruvegan. the Necrohol of Nabudis is good for leveling up, but those baknamys are right little buggers .

Bubble belts were a lifesaver for me......
Id say they were a must
I can't say I had any particularly great weapons or out, but I made damn sure I had one person soley on healing duty
I used quickenings but they werent all that great tbh and they ate all my mp - <_<

I made sure all my equipment was all in order- I actually used Rubber Suits (immune thunder), White Masks (immune holy) and Flame Shields. I was about level 47 myself, and had no trouble with it at all, I just kept switching between physical attacks when he had magickal barrier and magic attacks when he had physical barrier. And I agree, Quickenings are a waste of time unless you are good at getting mist charges and/or have no ethers.
I had Curaja on gambit ally>40% and Curaga on gambit ally>70%. Barely died at all that way and I kept topped up with high ethers.

I hate quickenings, they're too cheap.
I reccomend getting Masamune and the Genji Gloves, they helped me SO much with Vayne.
Get Genji Gloves from first Encounter Gilgamesh, steal them from him when his HP is around 20%.
Get Masamune for beating second encounter Gilgamesh. I'd say be around Level 55 to beat him.

Quickenings are cheap IF you actually manage to pull them off, but they're so difficult they just end up wasting precious MP.
And yes, get the Masamune and Genji Gloves. Katanas already have a high combo rate, and Genji Gloves will make it insane. Plus Gilgamesh is hilarious and definitely worth fighting.
