Ok, so, I'm finally playing FFXII and I'm in the Westersand and this monster called Dustia appeared. I looked him up in a FAQ and it says that a good way to level up early in the game is by killing it with Phoenix Downs since it is an undead monster. However I was never able to target it with a Pheonix Down (Vaan would only target himself and miss). I know this may seem like a very n00bish question to ask, but: what am I doing wrong? I mean I'm no expert at FF but I consider myself fairly competent, so this really baffles me. Unless someone confirms my suspicions that you can't target enemies with healing items in this game. :(

I didn't discover this trick until half-way through the game, don't worry When you're targeting with something, in this case a Phoenix Down, Press L1 and at the bottom of the screen, next to all the health bars, the highlighted words (I think it's) "Team" or "Party" will un-highlight and then the word "Enemy" will highlight. Once it is highlighted, the targeted item/spell will target enemies. Its a great way of multi-killing undead enemies with Curaja. Anywho, you can also use the Phoenix Down on KO'd reserve party members. Press R1 while targeting with the item/spell, and the word "Reserve" will be highlighted. You can now target members of your reserve party.
