Ah! I remembered! It deals damage to all enemies in range based on how many knots of rust you've used. There's a way to get all the chests surrounding the Zodiac spear to be filled with Dark Matters instead of Knots of Rust. Each Dark Matter is powered up by those used knots of rust. After you use a dark matter, it goes back to dealing almost no damage at all until you use enough knots of rust again.
