Stuck in FF6A Kefka's Tower!!!!

Someone please help! I am stuck in the part where we just pushed the weights down on the switches and all that and my middle party has gone through the center door opened by the other two parties and then they go up and save and the hole is right in front of them where they fall down to a new set of switches on the outside. Now my other two parties cannot leave the areas they are in, they can only go up and down and not left or right to leave the path. My middle party is outside and cannot go anywhere but down and back around to the outside. Am I missing something? I teleported out of the dungeon and restarted the first time this happened hoping I had missed some instruction in my walkthrough, but I'm exactly where I was before. STUCK! I've stepped on all the switches I can until now. Please, please tell me I'm missing something. Thanks in advance!
