What's your level?
Do you have restorative items like elixir or potions?
Do you have the spell esuna learned, or do you have an ample stock of remedies?
If not, I suggest leveling up a lot more and go prepared. Recommended level would be about 25 or so. Also, if you're not up to battling him, you can always go through the forest through the south, but be careful as there's a lot of difficult monsters lurking in there. If you're going there to Bur-Omisace, do so quickly.
