new sonic game
I was walking thru the store when I decided to walk to the mag section. I saw on the cover of Nintendo Power Sonic. I figured it was another failed attempt to revive the once great series, but as I was about to walk away, I noticed something that cawt my eye. Not only is it a Sonic game but a Sonic RPG! I was shocked! They must have realized that this would be a change of pace after countless failures.
I didn't find out much, so I'll look for more info. I can tell you it's for the DS.

Oh great, just what we need, another Sonic game that isn't a sidescroller.
I wish Sega would get it through their thick skulls that Sonic ONLY works in 2D. And...Sonic in an RPG? Wtfh, the Sonic games are about speed and flying through levels, not leveling up. I'm VERY apprehensive about this...

Sonic 2d = BADASS. Insane speed and limited view that leaves no room for error. Epic.
Sonic 3d = EPIC WIN. Now those big ass loops can have more angles and dimensions and the courses look much better and they even have more variety.
Sonic rpg= WTF? -Speed will be gone, Sheilds and rings, useless, and probably more weird ass plot elements that have no place in the series.
They're using the same characters and name over and over, just whoring it out for entirely diffrent games!
Pisses me off, honestly.

I think it looks promising. So far it's called Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. The screenshots and the description of the gameplay wins me over. Then again, I'm a pretty big fan of the series. (I'm lagging behind... I want to get a PS3 so that I can finally play the new Sonic the Hedgehog.) I just hope they pay attention to the voiceovers... the new people they've gotten seem to be getting pretty good in their roles by now (assuming they're using the same people as in Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Riders).

Yeah, that's what happened with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Secret Rings. I think that's why it was such a big flop. I have hope in this one, though.

Oh lord, I know. I'm tired of all these lameass characters, I wish they would just stick with Tailes, Knuckles and the Kaotix.
Now, since Bioware is doing this Sonic RPG, it probably won't be a bad game at all. But I still think it's just damn WRONG.

Sonic only really works side-scrolling, the 3D ones don't really compare and the 'cross genre' games like Sonic Riders are lame. I can however kinda see this one working. Sure it won't be a classic but an RPG-like game would kinda suit Sonic in someways.

It's been made by Bioware so there's a very good possiblity that it won't suck and will actually be pretty good, and let's face it the Sonic franchise could use a good game or two.
I'm looking forward to it in any case.

Yeah...it might be blasphemous...but I think at this point the franchise could use ANYTHING to get it back on its feet. And at least they've got some competent people to do it.
I really do wish they'd get rid of all these lame characters though. Actually, it would have been awesome if Sega had decided to use the characters from the Archie comics series, like Sally and Bunny Rabbot and the lot. They were all way better <.<

I'm hopin' for good music. I was actually quite fond of Adventure 2 Battle's theme songs, especially Knuckle's theme. that one was sweet. of course, seeing as this is the DS we're talkin' bout, I won't have high expectations.
And this 'dark world' sounds kinda cheesy. Maybe if you add a few dark nurses and a pyramid head, then you'll have a game!
