It normally takes me at least 80 hours on any Final Fantasy game because they game is that big, but with any other game it really just depends on how long the game is, difficulty of the games etc.
It ranges between a few days to a few weeks.

80 hours? good lord that's a lot. Most time I spent on a game is 50-60 hours and that was because it involved over 100 playable characters.
normally, it takes me a good 20-30 hours to beat an RPG. I don't really count if it's not an RPG.

I clocked over 100 hours on Kingdom Hearts because I was determined to get to level 99...I never did 
I guess 80+ hours is a long time for a game, but with FF it sort of depends on how much you like it enough to play...same goes with FFXII, 120-150 hours  ...even though I wasn't that keen on it.

I nearly alwys get over 100 hours in FF's I think my longest on FFX is about 140 so far and about 90/100 on XII which I still haven't done everything on, but I spent most of my hours being lost on that haha
Not so much for the earlier ones tho, VII and VIII I think are in the region of about 70/80
I jut like to faff about and do everything I can
My main file on X has been ongoing for well over a year, I just go back to it as an when I can be arsed, I just have Dark Yojimbo and Penance to beat (if I ever CAN beat penance <_<)

To be honest i'm not much into the side-quest and all sort of things. I didn't have that much time to spend and most of the time as soon as i finish the main story i'm done with the game. It's almos 40 hrs in most of the RPG games.
The only games that make me wish to complete all the things and spend more time tha the strictly necessary were Shadow of the Colossus and Metal Gear Solid 2.

i don't have enough of an attention span to play the same game for that long haha. 100+ hours is crazy!

^ But doable.  I also tend to play over 100 plus hours when it comes to FF, particularly FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX. Those were definitely over 100 hours...because after I reached 99 hours, months later, I was still training and trying to max my skills and whatnot.

I usually finish a game in 40+ hours in a week. Do the math, but now it takes me a month.. wish i was still studying.  If i don't like the game i don't finish it. Its just a waste of time playing something you don't enjoy.

It takes me a week on the average to finish a game, though there are exceptions like XII, where I lost interest and only started palying again a week later.

how spread out would you say that is? how many weeks or months i mean. i'd say i lose interest in about 4 or 5 months.
