The Best and Worst Designed Characters

Who are in your opinion the best and worst designed FF characters?

Here are some of my favourite designs.

Cecil (Dark Knight) - The Amano sketch makes him look evil. I have a feeling that the DS version he won't look as evil as he does in the Amano sketch but still looks kick ass.

Kain - He is what defines a Dragoon in my eyes. From his appearance to his personality.

Rosa - Although some of these early characters have like bathing suits but I really think the design works well. I love the cape and I can only imagine how beautiful she would look when fully rendered.

Locke - Like Kain, his appearance does define "Treasure Hunter" to me as he looks very laid back but his appereance does not reflect his personality. He is very loyal and respective. He is trying to change the world before the game even starts but his appearance makes him look cool at the same time.

Setzer - This guy has such a kick ass coat. Although I didn't really like it as much in Kingdom Hearts II, but in FFVI he just looks like a badass. Setzer just looks awesome!

Vincent - His appearance does strike me as emo right away but I like it. The red & black suit his personality well.

Zidane - This design I liked was because he is more unique as he is the only protagonist that really strikes out as funny and I don't think I need to mention why. I feel that his design does reflect part of his personality as he does look like a flirt but you there is a deeper side to him.

Garnet - I actually liked the fact that unlike most of the FF girls, she is probably one of the least sluttiest out of the lot. I know it is probably because she is a Princess but take a look at Ashe.

Some of the ones I hate.

Celes - I really don't think the green bathing suit does suit her. Maybe I would have prefered the original Amano one but sometimes I can't take her character seriously.

Maria - Her design is way too slutty and her in game sprite looks like a man!

Bartz - Going by his FMV rendering, he looks so bad. Grey skin with white long hair is just...urgh!

Cait Sith - Even now when I play FFVII I still think "WTF?".

Selphie - She is a member of SeeD yet she wears a skimpy dress and the way her hair curls round at the edge. I just don't like it. Maybe if her dress was slightly longer but she just looks like she is 8 years old.

Quina - See Cait Sith

Amarant - Not the worse but Amarant looks totally awesome in Amano's sketch so comparing then both I think his design is a little let down.

Tidus - What? The protagonist is wearing dungarees? What the hell?

Lulu - Just someone please tell me how the hell did Lulu's breasts not pop out at all during the course of FFX? That is almost unbelievable! And with all them belts? Why not just get a proper coat instead of having a dozen belts across the front.

Vaan - Words cannot describe how I feel about Vaan's design.

Fran - I liked Fran but, come on! I think I would have liked her design a bit more if she had more close in between. I remember seeing a scene with Ashe and Fran talking and my brother saying "There is no way anyone can take them seriously dressed like that".

Hmm...I'll have to break this down into two different lists...best and worst personalities, and best and worst appearances...

Best Physical Designs

White mage - white mages are always the best dressed. Admit.

Setzer - Setzer had really great fashion sense, admit it. He had this...romantic/classy ensemble that reminded me of Van Helsing or something of the sort. Not to mention his long, beautiful silver hair; not out of the ordinary, not gravity defying...just long and beautiful.

Cloud - Cloud's appearance isn't what makes his physical design likeable. The hair is such a no go. It's his purple jumpsuit outfit that I liked. For whatever reason, it reminded me of 1940's german soldier attire.

Sephiroth - Sephiroth and Setzer go hand in hand. The reason for liking both of their appearances is obvious.

Nanaki - One of the best non-human designs in FF history. I really loved Nanaki's appeal. No one even knows if he's a dog or a cat. lol. The color of his fur, his mane, his scars, and his firey tail...he had a really great design overall.

Zidane - I can't say what it is about his apperance that's so catchy. It seemed like he was designed with a pirate in mind. The thieves blades, typical jeans, worn wife beater...he looked like someone who was ready to get down and dirty (even with his chibi in game appearance).

Garnet - I loved Garnet's outfit, her face, her hair; everything about her. Her shoes were a little bit iffy, but everything about her outfit went with her; her appearance never clashed with her personality.

Fran - Fran actually pulls off a sexy warrior appeal without coming off as too slutty. Her outfit matches her physical apperance very well.

Worst Physical Designs

Tifa - As much as I know you all love Tifa's ghetto girl appeal; she reminded me of a typical beaner with huge boobs working at a run down bar, in a run down city; dressed in typical beaner-milf clothes that were 5 sizes too small. The suspenders and the army boots completely topped off the ghetto beaner appeal.

Squall - I'm pretty sure he stole that jacked from a 5 year old. That's my only complaint.

Eiko - Just...what can I say, I mean...wtf is she wearing anyway? That's a horrible design. It looks as if they came up with two different outfits for her, couldn't decide which one to use, and just decided to fuse them both together.

Lulu - No, just...no...the gothic look isn't working for me. The 24/7 makeup, and huge knockers hanging out at all times...Brings me right back to Tifa's beaner rituals. Too much makeup, too much jewelry, and a lace and leather dress decked out in way too much raw cow hide that only a beaner-milf would wear.

Seymore - Just...wtf...the hair, the clothes, the breasts hanging out at all times...no.

Best Personalities

Locke - I chose Locke's personality because he's so giving. He'd risk his own life to save a total stranger. He's romantic and smart.

Aerith - Her personality isn't the best of the best. It's her sincerity and her willingness to give to others that makes her seem so genuine. She's a breath of fresh air. =]

Tifa - Tifa's personality was one of the best. She isn't a rough-housing down and dirty butt kicking monster like most people make her out to be. Her outfit kind of...clashes with her personality. She's shy about her feelings, kind, generous, wants to help everyone out; she's always there for her friends. Her physical design just throws everyone off.

Nanaki - I love Nanaki because he's so laid back and informative. He's like the middle man; always ready to explain things to his friends when they're too stupid to understand. lol.

Zidane - Best FF leader in the series. He's outgoing, smart, courageous; he doesn't suffer from emo depression...He's a flirt, but he knows when to hold his tongue. XD

Garnet - I really loved Garnet as a heroine in FFIX. Sometimes I thought of her as the main character actually. She knew exactly what she wanted; and she always intended to help people somehow or another. She never gave up on her goal, and she always supported her friends and her love; Zidane. =]

Worst Personalities

Best - Judges in XII. Intimidating. Sexy. Very.

Vossler - Phwoar <3

Reddas - Love how they made this guy wear pink pants in such an awesome way. Clothing in general was kick ass too.

Dr. Cid - Ah~ perfect design for a male character to make you go weak at the knees.

Worst

Aeris - Lovely pink outfit..then big brown boots? Definite nono!

I can't think of anything horrible right now, minds a blank.

I have to say, that Aerith's ugg boots were somewhat...atrocious...
I wonder why they couldn't give her sandals. =\

But then again...it did give her that slum girl appeal. lol.

It seems like after VIII, the creators of Vaan, Zidane and Tidus tried to copy Cloud with great failure.

Best DesignsThe Judges from FFXII. I gotta admit...they look very attractive in those armors.

Tifa (AC). I didn't like her outfit on the game, but she made up for it in the movie. They lessened her boobs as well, which is good. (Sorry boys).

Cloud. Awesome designs in both the game and movie, although I know some complained that they made him look like a Japanese rockstar in A.C. Oh well, it suited his character anyway.

Rinoa. I like the fact that they didn't show too much of her thighs here. Typically they dress the female leads as kinky as possible, but not Rinoa.

Her designs are normal...and the boots matches her clothing.

Aerith. Same as Rinoa...they made her beautiful even if there wasn't much skin involved. Now that's what I call hot! Erm, I agree that the boots was kinda off though...

Beatrix. She just plain rocks! Her eye patch is very catchy and I'm loving her cape.

Yuna. I'm really loving the long, blue skirt. Everything about her is just beautiful. Hmm, I guess the boots kinda matched...wait a minute, is it me or are almost all the female leads wearing boots?! =O

Worst Designs

Vaan. What is up with that short uh...whatever it is he's wearing?! Just terrible.

Eiko. At first I thought she was naked in the front...bad choice of colors. Her big ribbon annoyed me too.

Quina. Unique design, I must say...but uh, it just doesn't make any sense. It's as if they were messin' around with the character or something...

Ashe. Her pink leather skirt is just too typical...too girl-next-door. Nothing unique about her designs at all. Don't mind her top though. And jeez, is that brown boots she's wearing? I could never tell anymore.

Garnet. As much as I love her, I'm not too fond of her too sunny outfit. Or her red boots. -.-

Zidane. Too fit for comfort, I'm thinking. Especially his top.

I guess that's all for now. The rest are just okay. Well, there's still the other characters from FFXII that really has bad character designs, but there's just too many of them.

Rufus : I liked his completely whit eoutfit with cape and stuff and his gun rlly fitted in there!

Sephiroth : Awesome character design there, everything just matches

Yuffie: She looks rlly mysterious altho not like a ninja but ehr looks are rlly nicely shown.

Reno: I like the Turk costumes in general but I guess I'll chooose Reno out of them all =)

Squall: Especially in his SeeD outfit he looked cool but his regular clothes were very fitting as well.

Irvine : Yet another cape! His hat is the best clothing I've ever seen in a FF xD. And I wish I had a trousers like his!

Quistis: I just liked her outfit, it was quite simple yet fine.

Zell: Mentioning him for his hair and tattoo which are absolutely cool!

Vivi: Like the jacket and hat along with his little legs what makes him wobbly :p

Amarant: My fav.char =) and he looks cool!, he's like half-afro o.O :p

Kuja: I like white and this guy is completely white and nicely put in it !

Lulu: Wow that dress is astonishing and really shows her personality

Tifa: Such a fine looking girl but oh such awful clothes even for a fighting one =(

Rinoa: Same as tifa, awful clothes for a pretty girl, she should have stayed in that dress ><

Selphie: One of the worst haircuts I've ever seen and nope that skirt just wont do.

Quina: wtf?

Eiko: Well I guess madain sari isnt rlly the capital of fashion and her clothes have to keep mog near her.

Seymour: I'd put him in my wtf list as well tbh =/
