Screen Changes!
*grumbles* One thing I absolutly hated about FFVIII was those damn screen changes when you walk only 3 feet! It's so annoying. lol.
I am playing FFX right now, and I notice how much better it is at changing screens and things. What are your thoughts?

I didn't really care as long as i could see the character. Sometimes in caves or dungeons it was hard to control due to the screen showing mainly the floor.

Its was annoying - i expected FFXII to have the capability to create a large environment without have to change screen every 3 minutes. I prefered it in FFX when it wasn't like that, but the world in FFXII was better.

That's cause FF12 was 3d controllable camera unlike the rest of them.
I hope they continue to use the 3d camera in future ff games.

Fixed camera angles are gay. Gaygaygaygaygay.
Free movement makes a game more enjoyable I find. Helps notice certain things you otherwise wouldn't too.

Yes i agree with you Gabranth, i prefered the controllable camera to the system in other games, it gave you far much more control over the viewpoint than ever before and you could personalise the camera to your personal preferences. It was still annoying how it forced it back into the default position after a screen change though.

The controlled camera is really great and all, but I think Enix should keep the independent camera of XII. xD
It's so much easier to spot hidden things like treasures, though that might take away so much from finding really powerful weapons in chests or something.

I actually quite like the fixed camera. Especially in FFX when it swung round at corners as I feel it brings a bit of a cinematic feel to the game.
Anyway onto screen changes. They were really annoying in FFVIII as it would freeze for a second then slowly change screens. I don't think I am bothered about screen changes on any of the other games but in FFVIII it is very noticeable.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Screen breaks and fixed cameras are both cheap effects to try and make a game look much better than it actually is... but it compromises so much.

But you gotta admit that it worked to perfection in games like VII and VIII for the most part. ;D
It has it's pros and cons but in this generation of gaming, I think it's outlived it's time, to be honest.
