Males vs Females
Why are all the females in the game weaker than the males? Do you find this sexist? You don't see a White Mage Male or a Warrior Female in the FF games (except X-2).
ya, I know you can build them up and stuff. I am meaning in the beginning. Normally the females characteristics are lower than the males. why do you think?

I noticed that, but most notably in tactics, where I first begun to sense it.
I didn't think it was sexist at all, but then again, I grew up in a world where sexism was not at all common, so I had no idea why.
But, then again, maybe there is that factor, but it's not blatantly obvious.

It's because in Japan men look down on women. Japanese men think women are weaker than men.

They based it on the real world, I guess. Men are naturally stronger than females, usually. It's only right to make the men stronger because in most games, men are the heroes, and girls are those "damsel in distress" types.
In a Final Fantasy setting, it has always been that way (except X-2 indeed). I personally wouldn't mind seeing a change for once...but I really don't know how that would turn out. =/ Girls stronger than guys? Sounds appealing.

Tomb Raider lol! Do you see a weak female?
All I can say is thats society. Females are meant to be the weaker race and need rescuing and wooing in books, TV, films, anime, computer games, etc. Yes it can be sexist, but thanks to people who create dominat female characters like John Ripley, Matsume Shirow, Quentin Tarantino, Core its no longer a problem.

In real life, when God created Earth, he assigned the man to be strong, and the woman to be intelligent. if it were all just one...it would be very dirty or very clean and strict.

They already gave you Vaan as a main character... how more feminine of a lead do you need? Besides, the main character is a girl in Final Fantasy XIII. As was the lead in FFX-2.
Mitsuki is right though, women can be strong but they're just not as physically as strong as men on the whole. Why? Is it because we don't let our married maids out of the kitchen? No... it's because they're just not as strong physically. Just the way it is...

It's probable that the role of the female (in such games) is to inspire the actions of the apparent powerful men. In XII, although the likes of Ashe fought, drove others onward for a greater good. Yes, there's the likes of Larsa who pursued the same ideals, but the female seems to have more of a leading role in this aspect.
It's not that they're weaker by an means, it's just that they seem to have done these things more than wield a giant sword and challenge armies head-on. A trend, if you will.

From the looks of FFXII and the previews for FFXIII, Square is aiming for less helpless female roles. Looks like the girls are finally stepping up.
I do hope that the upcomming games do have love stories with helpless heroines, but not necessarily with the main character...that doesn't always have to be the case.

Yes, it does seem like they are breaking away from the sterotypical roles of the females. It's a nice thing to see a female go out and Kick ass, eh?
Ashe was a bitch in the beginning. I didn't like her too well, which is why I didn't play with her.
