Final Fantasy Help

Hi, I'm sure this has been posted before but I just signed up here! Um, I'm 17 and have never played any Final Fantasy Game. I however, have Played all of the Kingdom Hearts games!!! So my question is, what games should I get to bring me up to speed on final fantasy. I have a PS3 80gb (Backwards Compatible with PS2 and PS1 games) and a PSP. Any help sure would be appreciated, I was thinking about getting crisis core but am afraid I won't understand it seeing as its Final Fantasy 7.

Oh lord, don't start with Crisis Core. x[

I'd actually recommend starting with FF7 and going through to FF12. This would allow you to see the progression of graphics and gameplay styles to allow you to appreciate it more. If you start with FFX and then go to FF7, you probably won't appreciate FF7 as much as you would if you just went in numerical order.

Or, if you don't feel like playing through all of them like that, I'd just say play FFX. It's luscious.

What about FFX? Thats a good place to start, great story great graphics and epic battle system

If you are gunna start with VII tho I recommend you play the original game first.....you will just have to keep your eyes peeled for a cheap copy

Failing that, FFX ftw

No! Completely bad place to start.

Don't start with FFVII either.

It's a lot easier now to play early titles - FFI + FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV and FFVI can now be played on handheld consoles - all work on the DS fine, even though FFIII is made specifically for the DS alone. Other titles, GBA one's.

If you start off with the early ones, and work your way up, you'd be able to see progression throughout the games.

FFVII is rare to find, but I'm sure you could find it at a gamestore preowned for a reasonable price.

FFVIII and FFIX should be easier to find, and the PS2 titles, even easier to find - FFX and FFX-2 will be platinum titles by now.

FFXII, most recent PS2 release. DO NOT start with that first. It's awesome, but, no, just don't start with that.

As for titles like DoC and FFXII:RW, not to mention X-2, play them after the original release of previous games.

Like DoC after FFVII, XII:RW after FFXII, and X-2 after X.

It makes more sense to play the sequels after ya know..the original game.

So in the end, start off early. It's sad to see how a lot of people don't play early titles, and always start off with much later titles.

I've even seen some muppets go - OH, DA EARLIER GAMEZ HAVE CRAP GRAPHICS SO IM NOT PLAYING DEM.

Don't turn into one of them.

FFI and FFII are hard though. Verrrry hard. So, if you like challenges, start there! If not, try III, IV, V or VI.

Good point JR, but on the other hand playing an earlier game could also turn somebody off if they haven't delved into the newer lot.

I tend to suggest getting the earliest PS game avalible, which is VII but if not then get VIII or IX. (VII probably is the best in the series to start with IMO. Its a nice balance between the SNES and PS era's) and then go down to VI (to get used to the 'crappy graphics') before deciding if to play IV or V. I would never suggest starting with I or II because they are far too basic, They are more for the hardcore fans. If you find that your not enjoying the SNES games as much, just continue upwards from VII. There is no shame in it.

But really it doesn't matter where you start. The only ones I really don't recommend under any circumstances are X-2 and any other sequal and anything else from the compilation of FFVII other than the original game. Purely because you won't know what the hells going on.

I'd start with Final Fantasy VII, personally. I played Kingdom Hearts before Final Fantasy as well. After playing FFVII, I became interested in the series.

If you want to play Crisis Core, you'll definitely have to play FFVII beforehand, anyway. If you want to fully understand the story, that is.
