Final Fantasy Epic Characters
In every Final Fantasy, there is always one character that the game just wouldn't be worth playing without that character in it. In your opinion, what character(s) are the most epic ones. They impacted the story greatly, whenever in their presence you just felt that no damn ruby dragon could kill you. They should go into the story books as legends.
I pick Auron. Final Fantasy X was by no way my favorite game, but I just feel that Auron had that sence about him that made him powerful.

I agree with that, Auron really did carry that game. I liked the game as a whole, but Auron really did have the edge on the other characters.
Usually I would say something along the lines of Vincent Is A God, but actually for FFVII I'm going to credit Cid. Imagine FFVII without Cid!! Unthinkable *shudders*, he really brought some light to the game where otherwise there would just be doom and gloom. Also Reno for that same reason, he was a great bad/good guy.
I'm playing FFVIII at the moment and I think the only thing keeping me from packing it in is Zell. Far from "epic", but just because he has so much energy and though he should be really annoying, he is a good counterbalance to Squall's dark moody character. Yaya for Zell!!!

I don't really wanna say any of the main characters because well, im guessing tehre wouldn't have been a game without them lol
It's most definately Auron in X - he just held the entire story together & he had the sexist voice ever
VII would have to be Aeris with the whole Ancient thing going on
VIII - Rinoa because well, im just a girl and i loved the whole romance theme xD
XII - Balthier because he was the only one who really had an interesting backstory (again a sexy voice)
Dr Cid was also the only one who had an interesting story (and sexy voice) It makes me wonder why Balthier wasn't the main character really it's like who the f*** is Vaan?!

FFVII- This is a tough one. Needless to say, Final Fantasy VII just wouldn't be the same without Cloud Strife, but Sephiroth just added so much to the game's impact. Whereas Cloud raised the bar for JRPG protagonists, Sephiroth definitely gave new life to the role of antagonist (before the Compilation ruined both of them). However, even though the two of them were incredibly influential and made the story much more dynamic, I'm going to say Aerith was the crux of this game's emotional impact. Think about it. What's the most hard-hitting scene in the whole game? Most people would say it's Aerith's death. Though she's only around for about 1/3 of the game, her character added so much to the original script.
FFVIII- Squall and Seifer's rivalry added a lot to this game. In fact, Squall, Rinoa, and Seifer were the only characters to get any real development beyond the second Disc. However, I must admit that the execution was certainly there when it comes to those three. The two complemented each other well when it came to raw skill and power, making for an exciting duel at the end of Disc 1. Their increasingly bitter rivalry added emotional dynamics, whereas the fact that he knew Rinoa helped incorporate a bit of romantic tension.
FFIX- I'd say that this game really doesn't have any defining characters. It's true that Zidane and Kuja were probably the most influential, considering they were the protagonist and antagonist, respectively. However, this game manages to provide a cast of memorable characters worth playing as. I think I could've done without Quina, though, considering just how little s/he actually does over the course of the game. Really, what's Quina do other than find the Fossil Roo? So, other than Quina, I'd say this game has an all-around nice cast. They work well together and it's interesting to see them interact.
FFX- This would be Auron for...no real reason. He was just pretty damn cool. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Tidus and Yuna, they just don't really stick out to me as being quite as interesting as Auron. There's not much else to say, really. Auron is just...cool.
FFXII- I didn't get too far into this one yet (I only recently got my hands on it), but I'm going to have to say Balthier or Basch. Again, I don't mind Vaan, I just don't know why they decided to make him the main character. He should've been a supporting character, if you ask me, with either of the two aforementioned characters as lead protagonist. Vaan, though good enough as a character, just doesn't have as compelling a story as Basch or Balthier. The plot doesn't really focus as much on him, in other words.

Who says Basch? O.O He made me feel weak, so I tried to use him the least. But in XII, I'd have to say Fran. She would always save me, because I'd always play as Vaan. (The ranged attackers in that game seemed useless to play as. Click a monster, shoot, it dies.)
Haven't played X yet, but when I do get it, I'll tell you clearly. For the moment, I would guess Auron, judging by how people rate him as the known character in every game. "The Serious, Silent, SO GONNA EFFIN KILL YA!" character.

LOL I am in that exact same situation.. Basch is my least leveled character right now--I RARELY use him.. Fran and Ashe, however, are my best favorite characters to use..

Meh...I can't say I particularly liked Basch, I'm just saying that he would've made a better main character than Vaan. Really, how is he the focus of the game's story? Basch receives much more attention as far as the plot is concerned.
