I don't have to use the senses I have to believe in HIM. There are these little but meaningful things that tells me that HE exists. When in times of trouble and I ask for his guidance, it seems that HE is always there to help me.
There are these days when I woke up late...and school is there... And if I don't hurry up, I will end up late and do some papers (like making the dean and teachers sign something) for me to be able to join the class. When this happens, I ask GOD's help to make things okay. And whenever I do that, it always come true. You can't say it's just coincidence for it happens almost everytime.
In times of trouble I pray to HIM, and I know in some ways everything will be alrite.

It's really interpretation. Some people will say it's just coincidence, and other people will say it's a placebo effect. Now I'm not going to force you to believe this if you don't think it's true; maybe it is, maybe it's not, but there can be a naturalistic explanation to why you believe God is helping you. If you interpret that God is helping you in your life, that's really just the way you see it. People can attach symbolism or meaning to things that happen to their lives, even if they have no proof or evidence for it; perhaps it's even a hunch. If you believe it is God from your perspective, that's fine then. Continue doing so because it's none of my business.

I really do believe HE is helping me. I think it's not just a mere coincidence. Because as I have said it happens almost every time. And when I'm down and feels like losing some hope, there's always something that would happen, that cheers me up and forget about these sad things.
Thank you for understanding, I believe in HIM, and no matter what they say about HIM, I will still continue to do so.

There are lots of things that can cheer us up, whether it's something that happens to us, something that we see, someone that motivates us, or just believing that someone is cheering you up.
Because of the way I see the world, only real people who are capable of motivating me can cheer me up, as well as the things I do and think about.

I always find it curious when people see good things happen they say "Bless God" but when bad things happen they blame either the devil or man. This is a lack of logic. It's been proven from the bible that god can make bad things happen (the flood, anyone?) so why do religious people make this contradiction?
As for me, I'm agnostic and have been it for years (even though many people use to tell me that my beliefs weren't even real). I personally don't feel we have the information to make such a big assumption about the universe. There's not enough evidence to prove or disprove god's existence so, like with many of beliefs, I'm mostly on the fence. I have no problem in others believing or not believing in god as long as they respect the other.

In my view, it is self confidence that allows this to happen. If you believe that you, yourself, can make this happen, then you will be able to make this happen. But then, some people use God as a thing of confort - they feel safe when they think that a superior being is watching out for them.
And Tethar, I was agreeing to this part:

I have no problems with other people having religion; as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's choice of lifestyle or their rights, then it's alright. Religion is a personal choice, and cannot be forced upon people.
|
I strongly disbelieve in religion, but if other people do, it doesn't bother me. If someone tried to preach to me, I would challenge them about it, but I wouldn't intentionally insult them, because it is their own choice to believe or disbelieve.
So, to conclue this:
I am an Athiest, but other people believing has no effect on me - to each his own. But if asked, I will surely give and support my opinion.

Some very good points made already in this topic. I also like how Dragonsoul pointed out the praise of God being all good and the blame classified under the devil or man. I can't exactly come up with a theory as to why this happens; but can only guess blindly that God is looked upon so highly and ill thoughts towards this higher being are considered so horrible that one dare not insult the being believed to have done so much for humankind and the universe. Most everyone aims to achieve eternal life in the end; perhaps blaming God for something is deemed sinful. I really don't know.
I'm just a kid bopping around, trying to figure out what's what, really. I can't really call myself anything, as my terminology in this subject lacks greatly. I ask quite a lot of questions (as I'm trying to figure things out to the best of my ability) and my beliefs are scattered through a lot of different categories. I lean towards there being no God however, and reincarnation existing.
Summum - just curious - but how do you know God is male? You keep saying 'HIM' and 'HE' in capitals, which raised that question in my mind. Personally I think it's part of the whole male dominance in the human race (in my opinion, but that's a very different subject to this) that makes this supreme being automatically male. But is there any consideration to God being female? Or of no gender at all?

Well, in a biblical context, it was written from a patriarchal side, with all the focus on male dominance. In otherwords, women were not valued. In fact, they were treated rather poorly. Such bible writers as Paul do their best to stress this. And yet, people still praise Paul for his misogyny and gender bigotry.

I despise the male dominated view of the bible.
It was done merley to contrast with the female dominated views in paganism.
Most religions are terrable when it comes to Gender equlity.
Christianity being the worst in the modern age.
No wonder women get it so hard when the largest religion in the world is biased against women.
The genesis story alone is enough. Eve being the one that causes the fall of Humanity. Also in earlier versions there was Lilith who left Adam as she wanted to be one top but god would not allow it. So she left and became the mother of all demons.
It is bad enough when men belive in christianity as it would give them an ego boost. However I simply can not understand how women are christian when it is so degrading and down right insulting to their gender.
