I've nearly finished the first one but haven't started the second until I finish first. I quite like the series but my one downside is that annoying noise when text comes up. Other than that, excellent series.

I'll be the black sheep then.
Golden Sun is a failure, I totally detest that game.
It has one of the most boring plots I have ever witnessed-unmemorable characters, yawn inducing dialogue, (Seriously I was yawning so much that it drew tears.) and absolutely no constructive relation to tie any of the events together. Oh well, typical country bumpkin protagonist and intense colosseum event which is every young man's dream to see or participate in. How trite. They didn't even try. Oh, and a lost childhood friend, too. Cannot believe I would forget.
I would call it a mundane and insulting collection of JRPG clichés, however the villains in the game did not even state or otherwise present a motive for their actions. Jesus Christ. I suppose I would have to play the second installment to be able to know what happens-but this disaster destroys any incentive to do so.
The only reason that I went through it was because I did enjoy the battle system, even though its intricacies were rather primitive in the end. The Djinn finding scheme and mixing them up to change your class was a neat concept, but fails in the end due to every battle being fairly easy. I didn't feel the need to experiment much further then whatever gave higher stats, and apparently, it is said to be a rather deep scheme.
Too bad the elements it was given birth for didn't motivate me to give a rat's ass.
The puzzles were fun though, and I actually commend the developers for including amusing puzzles to solve, unlike where in most RPG's it is naught but a chore.
But everything else-this is horrible. A vampire named Baybee who feels insulted that Mia joked about there being a blood bank in the bottom of the cave when he asks you to retrieve his jar of blood?
Right.
That, actually, was the ONLY moment in the entire game worth remembering. Sad.
The entire atmospheric structure of this game fails in both intelligence and innovation. I can't get over how bad, and mundane this was-even for a tired tried tested and true concept. Oh well, no beastman or catgirls at least.

I find it funny that I can't even remember that part. Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I still don't know why you would play through a game you thought was horrible. But, all I can say is that I really like this game.

The Villains plans are all cleared up in the Second game, the first game is a bit small and boring, but the sencond game is a whole lot better.

Good man, you should enjoy it if you're a fan of the first although I did tend to get lost a few times.
I'm still needing to complete it with 100% Djinn/Summons, I really must fix that.

I'm still stuck on first. Have all Djinns but because I haven't played it properly in maybe a year or so, I'm completely lost. Will use a guide so I can back in the game. Once I finish, will start Lost Age next.
