There is a link to an image comparing Cloud and Lightning in the original post, I didn't post it as an image because there's a lot of cursing in it, so I put a disclaimer above it and linked to it.

I do believe the girl is blonde and blue-eyed, but the screenshots of her in the dark, facially and hair-style wise, is indeed, freakishly similar.

There are other screens of who I believe is that 'bulky Cloud,' but in them the character is...very thin. So, I'm not sure yet if they're the same character or not.

Facially, Mr.33cm doesn't look like Seifer, but his design looks like a blend of VIII and KH Seifer, with the trench coat, the bandana, etc.

Blue-haired dude just screams AC Cloud to me. The design, the hair (oh wow, the colour is changed, big freakin whoop), and the AC-esque swords ...

One of the Versus guys reminds me of an older, taller, thinner Vaan.

The guy in the suit with glasses had remnants of Wakka's hair.

The fact that Nomura was asked to create a 'female Cloud' for this game just says a few things to me: they're just rehashing the OMGBADDAS image that the fanboys love.


*le sigh* I have no doubt that the games will be good, but I just wish the design team would be more ... original and creative.

in the beginning of the video it says from the teams that created FFVIIAC and KH2. Theres no wonder they all look alike, the same teams work on games that look alike, it's actually not a rip off, it's just the most advanced programs combined with the character development artist's personal style. Think of their characters as their canvas. Someone who does art usually has a style. (Warhol, Dahli, Picasso, etc.)

This is a good point, since it is made by both teams. They do have an excuse to show their own style within it, but again, my main complaint about the Versus girl was the fact that it's the same face model.

I'm just annoyed with Square rehashing the actually 3-D models. I can understand similar designs, like in Versus, since they're going for the cyberpunk look, but the faces?

The KH and FF7 crew aren't the ones on staff for FFXIII though, are they? It's only for Versus. If that's the case, that explains why FFXIII itself looks worlds different from Versus.

It's true that many artists put a specific art style within their work but I dont see why they can't try something different especially as it's a mix together of development teams/creative minds. A style I would personally love to see make a return would be the Vagrant Story style as it was fresh and completely different from any FF character designs. The game it was most reminiscent of was FF:T and FF:TA but they are often overshadowed by the main titles of the series.

I understand what you're saying, but the design is like a trademark of the FF series, so it's not really surprising.

It's probably the design of the same person who did the movie, right?

It's like comic books; even if they're completely different stories from each other, if it's drawn by the same person, it'll look the same.

I thought the blue-haired guy looked like Cloud.

Well, I guess this is because they know that people that look like FFVII characters will make the game as popular as FFVII.

I guess, anyway.
