yea your right Frisky. Even is she is hot, it wont cover up if the game does suck. I shouldnt really be saying that cuz i never played final fantasy. I need someone to help me out and tell me where to start from. LOL

lighting may not even be the main character all this jumping around over this so called main character may be false hope in fact no one has said she is really the main character in fact hero looks to be more of the main charecter

You've never played final fantasy, yet you joined a final fantasy forum?

The game you start with depends on what system you have. FF7-FF9 were all made for the playstation, as well as some of the earlier FFs. It is very hard to find a copy of them, so your best bet would be to watch a walkthrough on youtube or something. If you had a psp, you could start at the very beginning with FFI and FFII, but that depends on whether you have one. If you have a PS2, which I imagine you do, I would recommend starting with FFX. And if you have a system other than these, you should probably just go look up what FF games there are for it. There is no certain game you have to start with, since they all have different storylines and take place in different worlds. My first game was FFXII, the last game made, so it just depends on which game you can find. I hope that helps you !

Now, back to the topic.. Lightning looks like an awesome character, and I'm hoping she will be as fun to play as she looks. It's nice that she breaks away from how the other FF girls act, since she's more of a tomboy. I'm really excited to play her, but I hope I don't get the game and find that she sucks. A lot of the other FF characters that I thought were going to be awesome didn't turn out quite like I expected...

Lightning is the first main character [so far assumed] that finally puts a spin on the alluring androgyny of the series. Usually it's the pretty-boy guys that may be confusing some of the male players.

But with Lightning, she kind of makes me, as a female gamer go, "...I'd hit that. Hard. D="

Kidding aside, it's nice to finally see a 'bad ass' female, that's not mock-worthy like the girls in X-2. I know that she's modeled after Cloud, but I hope she exhibits some sort of differing personality than his. She wouldn't be too interesting if she truly was just Cloud on estrogen pills.

You're right, she really does look like Cloud. It's funny how in every new FF game, we're say something like "Hey, Rinoa sure looks like Tifa!" And then the next game comes out and we say "Hey, Garnet sure looks like Rinoa!"

And on..and on...
This time it's a girl that looks like a former guy. ^.^

Edit: uh..well not "former" guy. I mean, he's still a guy...

there is absolutly no proof that she is as import as she is portrayed. i beleave she is just a side charecter. also i would like to know why people call her lightning.....?

Despite the fact that she has been shown in every trailer, and the creators have said she's the main character, you're right, no proof

"As mentioned in our writeup on the Jump trailer, the female character who is to be FFXIII's main character is known as Lightning, although that's not her real name. A battle expert with mastery of gun, sword, hand-to-hand, and magic based combat, Lightning knows little about herself. In fact, she's not even sure of her real name, and Toriyama says that we should look forward to finding out the reason for this as part of the storyline. Lighting was once a high ranking official in an organization of some form. Now, according to the prologue that kicks off the trailer, she's been selected as an enemy to all of man kind and will bring destruction to the world."

I think its been pretty well known for over a year now that Lightning is the main character in FFXIII. If somebody told you the guys name from FFXIII Versus then it would be a different matter completely.
