Lightning Information
The heroine of FFXIII, seen in the original trailer for Final Fantasy XIII only calls herself 'Lightning' to keep her true name a secret, Motomu Toriyama explained. He goes on to say, "Why she doesn't tell her real name will be revealed in the plot."

Also according to Wikipedia:

The first confirmed main character is a young woman featured in the E³ trailer. Jump Festa 2007 confirmed her name as "Lightning", though Famitsu magazine states that this is a codename that she will probably use for parts of the game. She has also been confirmed to be the main character of the game.

It has been stated that the design of "Lightning" was to be a female version of Cloud. Wouldn't that not suggest that she is to be the main character?
