Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

I started it, but stopped at level 38 because I got bored. Check out my "Dustia Trick" thread.

Ive seen this done before and its a neat trick but not having done it myself, i looked up how long it could take to level up to level 99 using this and it said it would take around 85+ hours too reach level 99 with each stack of PD's taking around 40 minutes to fully use up. I thought that would be more than enough time to actually complete the game so why bother?

Unless its done more for making alot of cash early in the game than it is to leveling up.

To level 38 it took me around 11hours (but that's including the start of the game, rogue tomato hunt etc) aswell as collecting some snake skins from Giza (for later on in the game, Toursenol). After that I got bored and wanted to carry on.

I've seen it advised by someone to do it until you're between level 50 and 90 if you want a perfect game, so realistically you don't need to go to level 99 and take up 85 hours of your time. Just get embroided tippets as soon as you can.

I've seen on youtube some guy get to level 99 before Jahara, and have a level 99 Larsa Can't remember the game time but it wasn't as much as 85 hours I don't think.

I really don't have the patience for that stuff, i have never even heard of this trick -not that Id say it was a particularily good one if it takes 80 odd hours-

What the bloody hell is a dustia anyway....? It's something I might do for half an hour/hour or so before I got bored just too make life a little easier and get some loot, but that's about it...

I'd rather just level as I go then power level in a good training spot near the mid/end of the game

I never did understand why people were so intent on powerlevelling so early

Dustia is a rare game necrofiend in the westersand.

Basically, once you've completed the Rogue Tomato hunt and are free to roam, you go out to the Estersand, chain wolves until you have 99 wolf pelts and wind stones, then go to either Nalbina or South Bank Village and sell, buy phoenix downs. Getting enough loot for 99 phoenix downs is probably mostly adviseable, but I never did, most I had were 85.

Anyways, when you're ready, head to the Westersand, hug the wall to your right and you'll come to a new part of the map, before you change screens, attack yourself until you are at 10% or lower of your maximum HP (be a good idea to unequip your weapon) this draws Dustia out, then enter the next screen and Dustia will teleport in (be adviseable to go to the party menu, config and change the battle speed to the lowest, to stop him catching you with Dark) and just throw a phoenix down and he dies, BUT for this to work, you have to exit that map screen BEFORE the "1053 EXP 3LP" appears. So just stay at the exit, throw a phoenix down at him, exit, re-enter and repeat. Collect the loot he drops if it's close enough (don't go for it if it's to far or you could mess up and he'll be gone forever) and keep doing it until you're out of phoenix downs, then sell your loot and chain more wolves if necessary, buy more phoenix downs and go do it again.

Simple as that lol.

I got bored by level38 and gave up (but left the area before the exp/lp thing came up, so I can go do it again later on if I can be bothered).

There's already a thread about the Dustia. :/
Anyway, I don't consider leveling to 99 before meeting Balthier and Fran, a 'perfect game' to be honest. I consider a true perfect game to consist of your entire inventory filled with at least one of every item (Or if the item has a limit on how many you can obtain; for example, the Masamune, acquire the maximum alotted amount you could possibly get), and complete every sidequest etc.
As for the Dustia, I never bothered with it, even though I knew where, and how to exploit its benefits early on in the game. If I were to do it, it wouldn't acomplish much, since the rest of the game would be a piece of piss....

Are you kidding? Perfect Game is having maxed out HP, full license board, max gil, maxed out LP, all hunts complete, max EXP, max Clan Points, at least one of each equip, maxed-out items, and full Bestiary, and all Bazaar recipes done, PLUS maxed out Loot. This is just early power-leveling.

Exactly, I fail to see how this trick alone qualifies as having a perfect game status >.>

This is just some...annoying levelling trick which takes hours to complete.

I fail to see the point in even doing this. It's much too time consuming and sounds more annoying than playing through the game, period! What ever happened to just playing the game and just seeing the story? And who takes their time to find these things!?

To answer your question, no I've never done this. I really don't like doing little tricks to make games easier, takes away from the challenge.
