| Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. |

Too many weapons?
Did anyone else think that there were too many weapon types in this game?
I think so. xD
There's so many weapons and I want to try them all out throughout the game but there's obviously no way to do that with only 6 characters and with a dozen or more weapon types ranging from daggers to guns.
Well, so what did you think of it?
Did you like it or hate that limit.

There are too many.
I doubt some people used alot of them.
Measurment Scales, What kind of weapon is that?
Hand Grenades seem cool but come in too late in the game.
I might try out some Hand Grenades tonight though

Yeah, I was wondering what the point of a weapon like a scale could do, much less a weapon that inflicted regen when you hit something. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard; attacking your own party mate just to heal him/her.
Yeah, and those hand grenades, wonder how strong those are.
Anyways, I guess it was just to fill up some space or to add some 'flavor' to the game.
Also, did you try out the hammers and axes, PreZ?

Well, you can change up weapons on different playthroughs I guess. I actually tried most of the weapons except rods, maces and measures. I ended up keeping my main characters with the same types of weapons though. I settled on poles for Penelo, Swords/Greatswords for Basch and bows for Balthier (until I got the genji glove and masamune). I think on my next playthrough I may change up the weapons. There were some that I could do without though. I wasn't very fond of axes or hand bombs.

Yeah I tried Hammers and Axes,
Pitiful tiny things, they can hit big but their hit ratio is low.
I want to try out Hand Grenades though.

The hand bomb hit ratio is like hammers and axes but worse.

Yeah, totally. The accuracy is alright, but the damage ratio is pretty damn lame. One time it will be in the thousands, and at other times it hits a pitiful 15 points off of a monster.
That's one of the bad things I found out when I equipped an axe on Basch in Raithwall's Tomb and I almost got killed by Demon Wall (the 2nd one), because he couldn't big damage consistently.

lol Warb on an anti-FFXII roll
I liked the variety. I think it varies the gameplay. I just wish that certain weapons were more useful. Ranged weapons would be much more worthwhile if the game allowed for more strategic placement of your characters.

I liked the variety of weapons and all of my characters use a different weapon. Van: pole, Penelo: axe/hammer, Basch: regular sword and shield, Balthier: hand grenades, bombs, Fran: bow and arrow, Ash: greatsword or katana. I'm glad they let me have such a variety since usually each character is assigned their own weapon. I guess it's really just up to the player whether they want to use them or not, but at least you're given a choice.

It's alright i guess. Yes, there are alot of VERY unnecessary weapons (Staves when you already have Rods, Poles when you already have Spears, Maces when you have Axes and Hammers, Crossbows when you have Bows and Guns, and the aforementioned Measures). But really, if you dont like the weapons, dont use them. It's like complaining about how the Gambit system makes things too automated, just dont use it. As for the hand bombs everyone is talkign about, this is what the Brady Games guide says about how they work:
Hand bombs take into account your character's strength and vitality, the hand bomb's attack rating, and the enemy's defence when determining damage dealt.
So you can use that to maximize their potential. Also, their various ammos carry different status effects: Poison, Stop, Sap, Oil, Confuse, and the Water element. Still, hand bombs are rather unnecessary when you have guns and bows.
